Satan Seated In Your Church?
That may sound like a very unusual question to most "Christians," but this is true of most Church congregations. Satan is literally invited into their church and given a place in the worship service. How, you ask? You would say, "I'm sure they did not physically or intentionally do so." This is true; unless there are Satanists or New Agers in the Church, who DO invite demons to come and work in the service. How can you invite Satan into your meeting and not be aware that he is there? Simple! I will begin with this question. Where in the Bible do you see that the Church of Jesus Christ; the saints, invite sinners to worship in the assembly or congregation. NO WHERE. In fact, it says the opposite: "Sinners shall not sit in the congregation of the righteous" (Psalm 1:5). Then why are they not only allowed in the Church, but encouraged to come? Even the possessed and New Agers, politicians like Clinton and Gore who are against everything the church is supposed to stand for, being completely anti-christian in all their manner of life – supporting abortion to even partial birth abortion, homosexuality and many other undodly things and now recently in the largest church in America – Willow Creek Community Church, pastor Bill Hybels allowed a Mulsim man, Mohammed Hammouda to speak to his church and tell them how they also believe in Jesus and all the prophets as we do – knowing that Islam is a pagan idolatrous religion. The number one reason is "church growth." It's numbers and money, because the Church is being run like it's a business. Is it any wonder that Church's are considered a "non-profit business" by the state and federal government? To most church's, the "proof" of God's blessing is in showing how they are growing, in numbers and offerings. But what does God's Word say?
Isaiah 1:15 "And when ye spread forth your hands, I will hide mine eyes from you: yea, when ye make many prayers, I will not hear:" Amos 5:23-24 "Take thou away from me the noise of thy songs; for I will not hear the melody of thy viols. But let judgment run down as waters, and righteousness as a mighty stream." Proverbs 15:8 "The sacrifice of the wicked is an abomination to the Lord: but the prayer of the upright is his delight." Proverbs 28:9 "He that turneth away his ear from hearing the law, even his prayer shall be abomination." We can see in these verses, that the prayers, praise and worship, and offerings of one who is walking in sin; and not uprightly before the Lord, are all rejected as an abomination to God. God is not interested in numbers for numbers sake, and money; but rather He is interested in committed lives, pure hearts with whom He can have fellowship. Simply, God is more interested in quality than quantity in His Church: the qualities of holiness and sanctification, rather than a bunch of unsanctified sinners playing church. 2Corinthians 11:2 "For I am jealous over you with godly jealousy: for I have espoused you to one husband, that I may present you as a chaste virgin to Christ." Ephesians 5:27 "That he might present it to himself a glorious church, not having spot, or wrinkle, or any such thing; but that it should be holy and without blemish." Anything contrary to this, is not sound doctrine, but instead is an aberration and mockery against God's holiness.
Micah 3:5, 8-12 "Thus saith the Lord concerning the prophets that make my people err, that bite with their teeth, and cry, Peace; and he that putteth not into their mouths, they even prepare war against him. ... But truly I am full of power by the spirit of the Lord, and of judgment, and of might, to declare unto Jacob his transgression, and to Israel his sin. Hear this, I pray you, ye heads of the house of Jacob, and princes of the house of Israel, that abhor judgment, and pervert all equity. They build up Zion with blood, and Jerusalem with iniquity. The heads thereof judge for reward, and the priests thereof teach for hire, and the prophets thereof divine for money: yet will they lean upon the Lord, and say, Is not the Lord among us? none evil can come upon us. Therefore shall Zion for your sake be plowed as a field, and Jerusalem shall become heaps, and the mountain of the house as the high places of the forest."
God's curse is upon that kind of church. This is what was going on when Jesus came among His people and cleansed the temple in Mark 11:15-17 of all the moneychangers and sellers of doves. Ezekiel 44:6-9 "And thou shalt say to the rebellious, even to the house of Israel, Thus saith the Lord God; O ye house of Israel, (those in covenant with God - His people) let it suffice you of all your abominations, In that ye have brought into my sanctuary strangers, uncircumcised in heart, (the unsaved - unconverted) and uncircumcised in flesh, to be in my sanctuary, to pollute it, even my house, when ye offer my bread, (Jesus - John 6:51) the fat and the blood, and they have broken my covenant because of all your abominations. And ye have not kept the charge of mine holy things: but ye have set keepers of my charge in my sanctuary for yourselves. Thus saith the Lord God; No stranger, uncircumcised in heart, nor uncircumcised in flesh, shall enter into my sanctuary, of any stranger that is among the children of Israel."
For the most part, today's church's are no longer a place for God's people to gather and worship and learn of Him. The church's have become a terrible mixture of the world with a blend of the religious. Sermons or messages are so compromising, that it is not the gospel, the unadulterated Word of God that is being teached and preached, but a highly watered down "socially acceptable" and "politically correct" gospel. The messages are full of human wisdom and psychology, and full of compromise and overlooking of sin, by men trained in these things. Every seminary today has a strong teaching emphasis on psychology and what they call pastoral counseling, but it is nothing but worldly, heathen psychology that originated from hell. You can't mix the two. Again, what does God's Word tell us about human wisdom? 1Corinthians 1:20-21 "Where is the wise? where is the scribe? where is the disputer of this world? hath not God made foolish the wisdom of this world?”
For after that in the wisdom of God the world by wisdom knew not God, it pleased God by the foolishness of preaching to save them that believe." 1Corinthians 1:25 "Because the foolishness of God is wiser than men; and the weakness of God is stronger than men." 1Corinthians 3:19 "For the wisdom of this world is foolishness with God: For it is written, He taketh the wise in their own craftiness." The only Godly wisdom and counsel is the Word of God. Anything other than the Word, outside the Word, added to the Word, is only human foolishness; nonsense before God. Proverbs 8:14 "Counsel is mine, and sound wisdom: I am understanding; I have strength." Proverbs 19:21 "There are many devices in a mans heart; nevertheless the counsel of the Lord, that shall stand." Proverbs 21:30 "There is no wisdom nor understanding nor counsel against the Lord." Proverbs 12:5 "The thoughts of the righteous are right: but the counsels of the wicked are deceit."
Sermons are such compromise as to make the sinners feel comfortable and at home in the church, and bring them to joining the church, without ever coming to Biblical Repentance, and Salvation by Faith in the finished works of Calvary; and without ever surrendering their life to the Lord Jesus Christ. They are led to believe that they are fine as they are and that God accepts them in their sin. So, the church's are full of fornicators, adulterers, homosexuals and lesbians, and those of every sexual perversion; as well as drug users, alcoholics, child molesters, wife beaters, and every type of wickedness that you can imagine. They are there, seated in the pews, and happy and comfortable, and thinking they are on their way to heaven. All they have to do to join the church and be a member, and be "saved" is to say a cute little prayer, "repeat after me, etc.; and then they are saved, sanctified, and on their way to heaven as a saint of God. Or they simply sign a card and shake some man's hand. I realize that some church's do have a partial stand for some godliness and holiness; but it is incomplete and compromised; as on the subject of divorce and remarriage. The Bible is clearly against it and yet what pastor or priest refuses to remarry divorced members?
As a result the church is full of unconverted, unrepentant, deceived sinners. What the church needs today, is a return to the preaching of the "whole counsel of God" Act 20:27 "For I have not shunned to declare unto you all the counsel of God," instead of this lovey-dovey, peace and safety, bless me gospel. 1Thessalonians 5:3 "For when they shall say, Peace and safety; then sudden destruction cometh upon them, as travail upon a woman with child; and they shall not escape." It's nothing more than demonic propaganda, "doctrines of devils" and "traditions of men" that is being taught. 1Timothy4:1 "NOW the Spirit speaketh expressly, that in the latter times some shall depart from the faith, giving heed to seducing spirits, and doctrines of devils"; Mark 7:8 "For laying aside the commandment of God, ye hold the tradition of men." We need the preaching of the cross, with the power and anointing of the Holy Ghost, so that the sinner won't be able to sit through the meeting without trembling before a Holy God, fearful of continuing in his sin. We need sermons that will prick their hearts and bring men to repentance. Jeremiah 23:22 "But if they had stood in my counsel, and had caused my people to hear my words, then they should have turned them from their evil way, and from the evil of their doings." Now this speaks of preaching to God's people, which means they already had come to a knowledge of the truth and salvation. These preachers knew, but refused to preach the truth of God's Word to His people. Jeremiah 23:21-22 "I have not sent these prophets, yet they ran: I have not spoken to them, yet they prophesied. But if they had stood in my counsel, and had caused my people to hear my words, then they should have turned them from their evil way, and from the evil of their doings." Jeremiah 23:26-28 "How long shall this be in the heart of the prophets that prophesy lies? yea, they are prophets of the deceit of their own heart; Which think to cause my people to forget my name by their dreams, which they tell every man to his neighbour, as their fathers have forgotten my name for Baal. The prophet that hath a dream, let him tell a dream; and he that hath my word, let him speak my word faithfully. What is the chaff to the wheat? saith the Lord." Jeremiah 23:32 "Behold, I am against them that prophesy false dreams, saith the Lord, and do tell them, and cause my people to err by their lies, and by their lightness; yet I sent them not, nor commanded them: therefore they shall not profit this people at all, saith the Lord." Jeremiah 23:36 For ye have perverted the words of the living God, of the Lord of hosts our God."
You would say, "Then how are sinners to be saved, if we do not invite them into the church?" First of all, we are not using the Word of God, or the things of God to get them into the church; but by making it a place of social gatherings, meetings, covered-dish or pot-luck dinners, and lots of entertainment (as big name singers coming for a concert, or holiday play or musical) and all kinds of recreation facilities (everything from work out rooms to bowling alley's, tennis and basketball courts, etc.). So what kind of members does the church end up with? "Sanctified" sinners. They have "white washed" their sins, covered them up with falsehood and a cloak of "religion". Then they are sealed with the demonic doctrine; "once-saved, always saved," though they do not usually call it that, or refer to by that name. But no matter what you call it, or how you dress it up, the end result of the teaching is the same. Walking in presumption before God, with the attitude of "you can't loose it" concerning their salvation. They say, "Once a son, always a son. You can loose your fellowship (by sin), but not your relationship." So they walk in sin, knowingly, with no fear of the judgment of God, calling themselves "Christ-ians." To be a Christian, in Biblical times, meant to be a follower and imitator of Christ. But lack of fear of God's judgment is why men sin openly. Romans 3:18 "There is no fear of God before their eyes." No fear of the divine judgment of a Holy God for their sin. They think they can just slide by in their sin, acting like the grace of God is "grease" and that God will overlook their sin. But what saith the Word? Hebrews 12:14 "Follow peace with all men, and holiness, without which no man shall see the Lord:" It's HOLINESS or HELL. But, they think that the grace of God is an excuse or covering for their sin, a freedom to sin, rather than from sin. But instead the grace of God will lead us to a life of holiness and sanctification. Titus 2:11-12 "For the grace of God that bringeth salvation hath appeared to all men, Teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly, in this present world;" Romans 6:1-2 "WHAT shall we say then? Shall we continue in sin, that grace may abound? God forbid. How shall we, that are dead to sin, live any longer therein?" Gal.5:13 "For, brethren, ye have been called unto liberty; only use not liberty for an occasion to the flesh, but by love serve one another." The grace of God gives us victory over sin, not a religious covering for sin, where we just act as if it didn't exist and walk in a religious self-righteousness. Romans 6:14 "For sin shall not have dominion over you: for ye are not under the law, but under grace."
The only word that can describe a church full of "sanctified" sinners, is "icabod," for the glory of God has departed and is not in that place (Isaiah 4:21). We need pure Holy Ghost anointed preaching of the truth, that will bring conviction for sin, and that will cause the sinner to tremble in the presence of a Holy God, and either have to repent or run out the door. How dare the Church of the Lord Jesus Christ give Satan a place to sit among them in the congregation with impunity. Look at Paul's exhortation about a "believer" that is in sin and will not repent of it and get right before God: 1 Cor.5:1-11. "IT is reported commonly that there is fornication among you, and such fornication as is not so much as named among the Gentiles, that one should have his fathers wife. And ye are puffed up, and have not rather mourned, that he that hath done this deed might be taken away from among you. For I verily, as absent in body, but present in spirit, have judged already, as though I were present, concerning him that hath so done this deed, In the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, when ye are gathered together, and my spirit, with the power of our Lord Jesus Christ, To deliver such an one unto Satan for the destruction of the flesh, that the spirit may be saved in the day of the Lord Jesus. Your glorying is not good. Know ye not that a little leaven leaveneth the whole lump? Purge out therefore the old leaven, that ye may be a new lump, as ye are unleavened. For even Christ our passover is sacrificed for us: Therefore let us keep the feast, not with old leaven, neither with the leaven of malice and wickedness; but with the unleavened bread of sincerity and truth. I wrote unto you in an epistle not to company with fornicators: Yet not altogether with the fornicators of this world, or with the covetous, or extortioners, or with idolaters; for then must ye needs go out of the world. But now I have written unto you not to keep company, if any man that is called a brother be a fornicator, or covetous, or an idolater, or a railer, or a drunkard, or an extortioner; with such a one no not to eat."
Look at the response of Peter to the lie of Ananias and Sapphira in Acts 5:1-11: "BUT a certain man named Ananias, with Sapphira his wife, sold a possession, And kept back part of the price, his wife also being privy to it, and brought a certain part, and laid it at the apostles feet. But Peter said, Ananias, why hath Satan filled thine heart to lie to the Holy Ghost, and to keep back part of the price of the land? Whiles it remained, was it not thine own? and after it was sold, was it not in thine own power? why hast thou conceived this thing in thine heart? thou hast not lied unto men, but unto God. And Ananias hearing these words fell down, and gave up the ghost: and great fear came on all them that heard these things. And the young men arose, wound him up, and carried him out, and buried him. And it was about the space of three hours after, when his wife, not knowing what was done, came in. And Peter answered unto her, Tell me whether ye sold the land for so much? And she said, Yea, for so much. Then Peter said unto her, How is it that ye have agreed together to tempt the Spirit of the Lord? behold, the feet of them which have buried thy husband are at the door, and shall carry thee out. Then fell she down straightway at his feet, and yielded up the ghost: and the young men came in, and found her dead, and carrying her forth, buried her by her husband. And great fear came upon all the church, and upon as many as heard these things."
H.C. Morrison wrote in Sermons for the Times: "Many people have been brought in to he church by one means and another, persuasions, decisions, and professions without the deep conviction wrought in the sinner's soul by the truth of God and the regenerating power of the Holy Ghost. There can be no method that will lead more certainly to the final paralysis of the church, the undermining and destroying of Christianity, than the bringing of unregenerated masses of people into the church."
Ezekiel 22:25-29 "There is a conspiracy of her prophets in the midst thereof, like a roaring lion ravening the prey; they have devoured souls; they have taken the treasure and precious things; they have made her many widows in the midst thereof. Her priests have violated my law, and have profaned mine holy things: they have put no difference between the holy and profane, neither have they shewed difference between the unclean and the clean, and have hid their eyes from my sabbaths, and I am profaned among them. Her princes in the midst thereof are like wolves ravening the prey, to shed blood, and to destroy souls, to get dishonest gain. And her prophets have daubed them with untempered morter, seeing vanity, and divining lies unto them, saying, Thus saith the Lord God, when the Lord hath not spoken. The people of the land have used oppression, and exercised robbery, and have vexed the poor and needy: yea, they have oppressed the stranger wrongfully." Ezekiel 44:23-24 "And they shall teach my people the difference between the holy and profane, and cause them to discern between the unclean and the clean. And in controversy they shall stand in judgment; and they shall judge it according to my judgments: and they shall keep my laws and my statutes in all mine assemblies; and they shall hallow my sabbaths."
Preachers today make no difference or distinction between the true believers and hypocrites or just outright sinners in the congregation. They receive all without prejudice, including the conceiled hypocrites and the openly unconverted sinners, and any and all types of ungodly and worldly people, who know not God, nor really care about spiritual, eternal things of God, but only satisfying their flesh. They are "lovers of pleasure and lovers of self more than lovers of God." 2Tim.3:1-5 "THIS know also, that in the last days perilous times shall come. For men shall be lovers of their own selves, covetous, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, Without natural affection, trucebreakers, false accusers, incontinent, fierce, despisers of those that are good, Traitors, heady, highminded, lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God; Having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof: from such turn away."
The go through the motions, they have a form of godliness; but they are not godly. They deny the Lordship of Jesus Christ in their lives. Having these kind of people in the congregation is only a hindrance to the spirit of God working in the service, and the growth of true believers. Furthermore the church's have gone to an "open communion" and they make no distinction between the worthy and unworthy communicants, and they consider not the exhortation of the Holy Spirit through the Apostle Paul in 1Corinthians 11:27-30. "Wherefore whosoever shall eat this bread, and drink this cup of the Lord, unworthily, shall be guilty of the body and blood of the Lord. But let a man examine himself, and so let him eat of that bread, and drink of that cup. For he that eateth and drinketh unworthily, eateth and drinketh damnation to himself, not discerning the Lords body. For this cause many are weak and sickly among you, and many sleep." It is better for a church not to have communion, than to have an open communion, with sinners and unbelievers partaking, which can only cause harm, and is no good for anybody.
Because of the quest for just more numbers in the church, and with them, the corresponding money; many church's are full of people of every abomination, from adulterer's to harlots, drug users and sellers, homosexuals and lesbians, to murderers by abortion and everything else that is contrary to the Word and ways of God, and His holiness. Men compromise to make everyone happy, to please everyone. They act as if the church is in a popularity contest, but it isn't. The Word of God will not even bring unity within a family, but division. Luke 12:51-53 "Suppose ye that I am come to give peace on earth? I tell you, Nay; but rather division: For from henceforth there shall be five in one house divided, three against two, and two against three. The father shall be divided against the son, and the son against the father; the mother against the daughter, and the daughter against the mother; the mother in law against her daughter in law, and the daughter in law against her mother in law." That doesn't sound like the gospel being preached today. Why? The truth makes men come to a decision. God's Word is to make men decide to serve Him or not, and not to straddle a fence or play church and religion. The Word of God will divide between those who will believe and obey it, and those who hate and reject it. Man's idea of the truth and God's are opposite. His are like a paradox to man. Opposite of the ways of man. Again here is the Word of God: Matthew 10:34-37 "Think not that I am come to send peace on earth: I came not to send peace, but a sword. For I am come to set a man at variance against his father, and the daughter against her mother, and the daughter in law against her mother in law. And a mans foes shall be they of his own household. He that loveth father or mother more than me is not worthy of me: and he that loveth son or daughter more than me is not worthy of me." To the world, these scriptures speak of division. They seem to be the opposite of the unity that God also speaks of and contrary to the prayer of Jesus in John 17:21 "That they all may be one; as thou, Father, art in me, and I in thee, that they also may be one in us: that the world may believe that thou hast sent me."
Why the seeming difference or contrast in those verses? It's because God's unity is one through division, through separation and sanctification. The unity of the church world today is a false unity. This is how the unity of God's body is achieved. 2Thessalonians 3:6 "Now we command you, brethren, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that ye withdraw yourselves from every brother that walketh disorderly, and not after the tradition which he received of us." This is the Biblical way of bringing unity among God's people. It's a command, not an option. God wants a pure, separate, holy, sanctified church, one without spot or wrinkle, not an impure, unholy, compromised with the world church. Ephesians 5:27 "That he might present it to himself a glorious church, not having spot, or wrinkle, or any such thing; but that it should be holy and without blemish." 2Corinthians 6:17-18 "Wherefore come out from among them, and be ye separate, saith the Lord, and touch not the unclean thing; and I will receive you, And will be a Father unto you, and ye shall be my sons and daughters, saith the Lord Almighty."
The church world is constantly speaking of love and unity, and condemning all who stand for the truth and call sin what it is, sin; and call an abomination, what God calls an abomination (as homosexuality). What kind of unity are they fostering? Is it a true or a false unity based upon the Word of God? Which type of unity do you believe in, man's or God's? God never told His people to seek unity with unbelievers and the world, or to be accepted by them. He has always told His people to come out of the world and have no part in it, for true believers are not a part of the world, as Jesus Himself said in John 17:9, 15-17: "I pray for them: I pray not for the world, but for them which thou hast given me; for they are thine. ... I pray not that thou shouldest take them out of the world, but that thou shouldest keep them from the evil. They are not of the world, even as I am not of the world. Sanctify them through thy truth: thy word is truth."
We need to seek God and His kingdom and His Word, and not unity according to man's ideas. Biblical unity of the body only comes through knowing Jesus; obedience to His Word; walking in sanctification which is accomplished through the Word of God abiding in our hearts. We must have a personal working relationship with our personal Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ, and walk according to His Word, and allow it to cleanse, sanctify, and purify our lives and separate us from sin and sinners. Jesus was our example. He went among sinners, but He had no fellowship with them in their sin. Hebrews 7:26 "For such an high priest became us, who is holy, harmless, undefiled, separate from sinners, and made higher than the heavens;"
Some other verses that show the way of unity through separation and division: Romans 16:17-18 "Now I beseech you, brethren, mark them which cause divisions and offences contrary to the doctrine which ye have learned; and avoid them. For they that are such serve not our Lord Jesus Christ, but their own belly; and by good words and fair speeches deceive the hearts of the simple." 1Corinthians 5:11-13 "But now I have written unto you not to keep company, if any man that is called a brother be a fornicator, or covetous, or an idolater, or a railer, or a drunkard, or an extortioner; with such a one no not to eat. For what have I to do to judge them also that are without? do not ye judge them that are within? But them that are without God judgeth. Therefore put away from among yourselves that wicked person." 1Timothy 6:3-6 "If any man teach otherwise, and consent not to wholesome words, even the words of our Lord Jesus Christ, and to the doctrine which is according to godliness; He is proud, knowing nothing, but doting about questions and strifes of words, whereof cometh envy, strife, railings, evil surmisings, Perverse disputings of men of corrupt minds, and destitute of the truth, supposing that gain is godliness: from such withdraw thyself. But godliness with contentment is great gain." 2John 1:10-11 "If there come any unto you, and bring not this doctrine, receive him not into your house, neither bid him God speed: For he that biddeth him God speed is partaker of his evil deeds."
A teaching in the Bible that would help make it very clear why God tells His people to separate from sinners and not to mix with them, or have dealings with them; much less bring them into the house of God, is the study of the leper. Let us see what we can learn from them.
1) Don't bring the Unclean into your house! 2King 5:9-11 "So Naaman came with his horses and with his chariot, and stood at the door of the house of Elisha. And Elisha sent a messenger unto him, saying, Go and wash in Jordan seven times, and thy flesh shall come again to thee, and thou shalt be clean. But Naaman was wroth, and went away, and said, Behold, I thought, He will surely come out to me, and stand, and call on the name of the Lord his God, and strike his hand over the place, and recover the leper." Elisha did not let Naaman, the leper in his house. A leper is unclean. Leprosy represents sin. That's how God sees the sinner, as a spiritual leper. If you belong to God and have committed your life to Him, as His possession, then your life and house must be clean and dedicated to Him! 1Corinthians 6:19-20 "What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own? For ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are Gods." God's house, spiritually - you, and physically your home and place of worship (meeting) is for prayer, praise, and worship. Mark 11:17 "And he taught, saying unto them, Is it not written, My house shall be called of all nations the house of prayer? but ye have made it a den of thieves." Isaiah 56:7 "Even them will I bring to my holy mountain, and make them joyful in my house of prayer: their burnt offerings and their sacrifices shall be accepted upon mine altar; for mine house shall be called a house of prayer for all people." Psalm 149:1 "PRAISE ye the Lord. Sing unto the Lord a new song, and his praise in the congregation of saints." Psalm 150:1-2 "PRAISE ye the Lord. Praise God in his sanctuary: praise him in the firmament of his power. Praise him for his mighty acts: praise him according to his excellent greatness." Psalm 150:6 "Let every thing that hath breath praise the Lord. Praise ye the Lord." Jeremiah 7:2 "Stand in the gate of the Lords house, and proclaim there this word, and say, Hear the word of the Lord, all ye of Judah, that enter in at these gates to worship the Lord." John 4:24 "God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth."
When Jesus headed the people and cast out devils, He never did it in the synagogue or temple, and neither did any of the N. T. apostles. They didn't take the unclean into the house of God. If the leper is brought into the house, Leviticus tells us that the leprosy got into the walls and infested the house. If you bring a demon possessed person into the house, then the house becomes infested, and has to be cleansed (covered in detail later).
James 5:14 "Is any sick among you? let him call for the elders of the church; and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord:" Call for the elders to come to their house - not bring the sick and possessed into God's house. When evil spirits come out of one, they will look for another house to inhabit. Anyone not right before God could be overtaken by the demon when it leaves another person. One reason for going to the house of the believer, is to see what; if anything, is wrong in the house. An idol on the wall, anything brought into the house God has forbidden, etc., which pollutes the house. Dr. Rebecca Brown's books show very explicitly how a house can be defiled and need to be cleansed - so the people in the house will be freed from attack because of a contamination of the house - giving demons a doorway or entrance therein. Books: (He came to set the Captives Free; Prepare for War; and Becoming a Vessel of Honor in the Hands of the Master.)
Mark 11:15-16 "And they come to Jerusalem: and Jesus went into the temple, and began to cast out them that sold and bought in the temple, and overthrew the tables of the moneychangers, and the seats of them that sold doves; And would not suffer that any man should carry any vessel through the temple." When Jesus came to the temple; the house of God, the first thing He did was cleanse the temple, by throwing out those who were not there for the right purpose. Mark 11:17 "And he taught, saying unto them, Is it not written, My house shall be called of all nations the house of prayer? but ye have made it a den of thieves." So. Jesus threw out those who loved money more than God - idolaters. They were sellers of doves; representative of the Holy Spirit. Today men merchandise the gifts of the Holy Spirit, sell you books and tapes (to make money), on "How to receive the H.S.; about the gifts of the H.S.; about their own "gifts" of the "Spirit" and how they work through them, etc.; ad infinitum. 2Kings 5:15-16 "And he returned to the man of God, he and all his company, and came, and stood before him: and he said, Behold, now I know that there is no God in all the earth, but in Israel: now therefore, I pray thee, take a blessing of thy servant. But he said, As the Lord liveth, before whom I stand, I will receive none. And he urged him to take it; but he refused." Elisha knew Naaman brought money, but he wanted nothing. Why? He knew God provided for him; as by the crow and the widow, but also God's ways. You can't buy God's grace or gifts, and God wants no man to be able to brag on what he did; how he got healed because he gave so much money, etc. But Elisha's servant chased Naaman and desired his riches. The result: Namaan's leprosy came upon Gehazi. 2Kings 5:20-27 "But Gehazi, the servant of Elisha the man of God, said, Behold, my master hath spared Naaman this Syrian, in not receiving at his hands that which he brought: but, as the Lord liveth, I will run after him, and take somewhat of him. So Gehazi followed after Naaman. And when Naaman saw him running after him, he lighted down from the chariot to meet him, and said, Is all well? And he said, All is well. My master hath sent me, saying, Behold, even now there be come to me from mount Ephraim two young men of the sons of the prophets: give them, I pray thee, a talent of silver, and two changes of garments. And Naaman said, Be content, take two talents. And he urged him, and bound two talents of silver in two bags, with two changes of garments, and laid them upon two of his servants; and they bare them before him. And when he came to the tower, he took them from their hand, and bestowed them in the house: and he let the men go, and they departed. But he went in, and stood before his master. And Elisha said unto him, Whence comest thou, Gehazi? And he said, Thy servant went no whither. And he said unto him, Went not mine heart with thee, when the man turned again from his chariot to meet thee? Is it a time to receive money, and to receive garments, and oliveyards, and vineyards, and sheep, and oxen, and menservants, and maidservants? The leprosy therefore of Naaman shall cleave unto thee, and unto thy seed for ever. And he went out from his presence a leper as white as snow." The person you minister too may not be the one God uses to supply your needs. When God sends you; He will provide for you. We don't minister to receive money, we can't sell God's Word, or the blessings or gifts of God. Matthew 10:8 "Heal the sick, cleanse the lepers, raise the dead, cast out devils: freely ye have received, freely give." 2Corinthians 11:7 "Have I committed an offence in abasing myself that ye might be exalted, because I have preached to you the gospel of God freely?" Preachers who just preach for money, as a job and not because of the call of God, are called "HIRELINGS." They are not of God. John 10:11-13 "I am the good shepherd: the good shepherd giveth his life for the sheep. But he that is an hireling, and not the shepherd, whose own the sheep are not, seeth the wolf coming, and leaveth the sheep, and fleeth: and the wolf catcheth them, and scattereth the sheep. The hireling fleeth, because he is an hireling, and careth not for the sheep." 2Peter 2:1,3 "BUT there were false prophets also among the people, even as there shall be false teachers among you, ... And through covetousness shall they with feigned words make merchandise of you: ..."
Luke 17:11-16 "And it came to pass, as he went to Jerusalem, that he passed through the midst of Samaria and Galilee. And as he entered into a certain village, there met him ten men that were lepers, which stood afar off: And they lifted up their voices, and said, Jesus, Master, have mercy on us. And when he saw them, he said unto them, Go shew yourselves unto the priests. And it came to pass, that, as they went, they were cleansed. And one of them, when he saw that he was healed, turned back, and with a loud voice glorified God, And fell down on his face at his feet, giving him thanks: and he was a Samaritan." There were 10 washed and cleansed. Leprosy represents sin. Many of those Jesus washes from their sin, like the 9, don't come to His presence to worship and serve Him. Luke 17:17 "And Jesus answering said, Were there not ten cleansed? but where are the nine?" God is saying; where are those I cleansed, who came and asked for forgiveness and cleansing; but are not willing to keep coming back to Jesus. He has a banquet table for us spiritually, but we have to keep coming to His table to eat. As natural sheep are led from one pasture to another; God is leading us. If we lay down and get comfortable where we are and don't go on and keep following our shepherd, we will be left alone and be devoured. Luke 17:18-19 "There are not found that returned to give glory to God, save this stranger. And he said unto him, Arise, go thy way: thy faith hath made thee whole." The nine were physically healed, the one was truly healed and made whole, spitually as well as physically.
Deuteronomy 32:15-17 "But Jeshurun waxed fat, and kicked: thou art waxen fat, thou art grown thick, thou art covered with fatness; then he forsook God which made him, and lightly esteemed the Rock of his salvation. They provoked him to jealousy with strange gods, with abominations provoked they him to anger. They sacrificed unto devils, not to God; to gods whom they knew not, to new gods that came newly up, whom your fathers feared not." Sheep can get so fat they lay down and get comfortable in a rut and can't get up. We have to be found doing His will when He comes (Matthew 24:48-51). Deuteronomy 32:18 "Of the Rock that begat thee thou art unmindful, and hast forgotten God that formed thee."
Numbers 12:10 "And the cloud departed from off the tabernacle; and, behold, Miriam became leprous, white as snow: and Aaron looked upon Miriam, and, behold, she was leprous." Miriam was struck with leprosy as judgment for sin. God's displeasure because she spoke against Moses. 2ChroniclesH 26:20-21 "And Azariah the chief priest, and all the priests, looked upon him, and, behold, he was leprous in his forehead, and they thrust him out from thence; yea, himself hasted also to go out, because the Lord had smitten him. And Uzziah the king was a leper unto the day of his death, and dwelt in a several house, being a leper; for he was cut off from the house of the Lord: and Jotham his son was over the kings house, judging the people of the land." Again. God's displeasure. Leviticus chapters 13 and 14 are on leprosy. The leper was not fit to be in the camp, among God's people. Remember, leprosy represent sin. [Everything in the Old Testament is in the natural, as a type and shadow of spiritual things, to teach us spiritual truths. Everything there is for our learning and admonition.] Once the leper was cleansed, there had to be a sacrifice before he could return to the camp. No other disease is described in such detail in scripture. As a reminder of what the New Testament says about the Old Testament, in it's place and purpose for us today: Luke 16:17 "And it is easier for heaven and earth to pass, than one tittle of the law to fail." Romans 15:4 "For whatsoever things were written aforetime were written for our learning, ..." 1Corinthians 10:11 "Now all these things happened unto them for ensamples: and they are written for our admonition, upon whom the ends of the world are come."
Leviticus 13:44-46 "He is a leprous man, he is unclean: the priest shall pronounce him utterly unclean; his plague is in his head. And the leper in whom the plague is, his clothes shall be rent, and his head bare, and he shall put a covering upon his upper lip, and shall cry, Unclean, unclean. All the days wherein the plague shall be in him he shall be defiled; he is unclean: he shall dwell alone; without the camp shall his habitation be." The leper is pronounced unclean. His habitation is "outside" the camp and he cries "unclean." Every sinner is spiritually unclean, as the leper was physically unclean. All that comes out of the mouth and therefore the heart of a sinner is unclean. Even their righteousness is filthy rags. Proverbs 15:8 "The sacrifice of the wicked is an abomination to the Lord: but the prayer of the upright is his delight." Proverbs 15:26 "The thoughts of the wicked are an abomination to the Lord: but the words of the pure are pleasant words." All words begin with thoughts. If the thoughts are wicked, the words spoken are wicked. Why? Luke 6:45 "A good man out of the good treasure of his heart bringeth forth that which is good; and an evil man out of the evil treasure of his heart bringeth forth that which is evil: for of the abundance of the heart his mouth speaketh."
But Christ has cleansed us. Hebrews 10:14-17 "For by one offering he hath perfected for ever them that are sanctified. Whereof the Holy Ghost also is a witness to us: for after that he had said before, This is the covenant that I will make with them after those days, saith the Lord; I will put my laws into their hearts, and in their minds will I write them; And their sins and iniquities will I remember no more." To forgive and remove our sins, is to remove them and deliver us from their power over our lives. We are not only set free from our past sins, but the judgment for those sins, and the power of sin over our lives. Luke 17:12 "And as he entered into a certain village, there met him ten men that were lepers, which stood afar off:" Lepers stood afar off; by law they couldn't come near. As sinners, we couldn't come near to God, except through the blood of Jesus, we who were afar off; spiritual lepers, we made night to the Father, by the blood of Jesus. Ephesians 2:13 "But now, in Christ Jesus, ye who sometimes were far off are made nigh by the blood of Christ." Those who call upon Jesus, will never be ashamed.
Mark 10:47 "And when he heard that it was Jesus of Nazareth, he began to cry out, and say, Jesus, thou son of David, have mercy on me." Matthew 20:30 "And, behold, two blind men sitting by the wayside, when they heard that Jesus passed by, cried out, saying, Have mercy on us, O Lord, thou son of David." When these spiritually blind; sitting on the wayside, who are not in "the way," on the narrow path that leads to eternal life, cry out to Jesus for mercy and compassion and confess Him as Lord, He doesn't bypass their cry. Matthew 20:31 "And the multitude rebuked them, because they should hold their peace: but they cried the more, saying, Have mercy on us, O Lord, thou son of David." If your in need of Jesus don't let anyone or anything stop you from getting to Him. Keep crying out until He answers you. Jeremiah 33:3 "Call unto me, and I will answer thee, and shew thee great and mighty things, which thou knowest not." Matthew 20:32-34 "And Jesus stood still, and called them, and said, What will ye that I shall do unto you? They say unto him, Lord, that our eyes may be opened. So Jesus had compassion on them, and touched their eyes: and immediately their eyes received sight, and they followed him." Once Jesus touches your life and brings you to deliverance; to salvation, stay with Him, cling to Him and don't loose sight of what He has done for you. Nine of the ten lepers in Luke 17, didn't come to worship and serve Jesus; they didn't continue with God and ended up in hell. And nine out of ten that Jesus washes from their sin, will not go on with Him to eternal life. Amos 5:2-4 "The virgin of Israel is fallen; she shall no more rise: she is forsaken upon her land; there is none to raise her up. For thus saith the Lord God; The city [a type and shadow of the church] that went out by a thousand shall leave an hundred, and that which went forth by an hundred shall leave ten, to the house of Israel [The people of God, those in covenant with God]. For thus saith the Lord unto the house of Israel, Seek ye me, and ye shall live:" Nine out of ten won't continue to seek Jesus that they may have His life and live eternally! Isaiah 6:12-13 "And the Lord have removed men far away, and there be a great forsaking in the midst of the land. But yet in it shall be a tenth, and it shall return, and shall be eaten: as a teil tree, and as an oak, whose substance is in them, when they cast their leaves: so the holy seed shall be the substance thereof." Will you be one of the nine? Or the one who returns to seek and follow Jesus to eternal life!
Exodus 3:7-8 "And the Lord said, I have surely seen the affliction of my people which are in Egypt, and have heard their cry by reason of their taskmasters; for I know their sorrows; And I am come down to deliver them out of the hand of the Egyptians, and to bring them up out of that land unto a good land and a large, unto a land flowing with milk and honey; unto the place of the Canaanites, and the Hittites, and the Amorites, and the Perizzites, and the Hivites, and the Jebusites." God's people; who are in Egypt, who have found themselves in bondage in the world; if they will cry out to God - He will hear their cry. Psalm 34:6 "This poor man cried, and the Lord heard him, and saved him out of all his troubles." That's the "poor in spirit." We need to recognize that we are poor in spirit! Jesus said, "Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven" (Matthew 5:3). Those who humble themselves before God, those of a broken and contrite spirit, are the ones who make it, whom God accepts. Psalm 51:17 "The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit: a broken and a contrite heart, O God, thou wilt not despise."
Romans 10:9-10 "That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation." They confessed Christ as Lord and Master. We need to confess daily because we are still in the flesh. God has given us all His promises, but we have to continually confess them to possess and walk in them; to keep receiving the benefit and blessings provided; as healing. One prayer for healing at one point in time, doesn't keep you from ever again getting sick the rest of your life. You have to keep appropriating God's provision for healing; and so it we have to walk in repentance. It's a lifestyle, not a one time act. These lepers in Matthew 20:30 saw themselves as being in a state of helplessness, and in need of mercy and compassion. God grants it to those who repent of their sins.
Proverbs 28:13 "He that covereth his sins shall not prosper: but whoso confesseth and forsaketh them shall have mercy." Luke 17:14 "And when he saw them, he said unto them, Go shew yourselves unto the priests. And it came to pass, that, as they went, they were cleansed." Why did Jesus tell them to show themselves to the priest? Levitical law said the leper had to be declared clean by the priest before they could be taken back into the general society and live among God's people. The leper was not considered cleansed until declared so by the priest, who had to examine him by the law given by God, concerning lepers. Jesus didn't break the law, He fulfilled it. Naaman the leper, was cleansed only when he obeyed the Word of God by the prophet Elisha and dipped the seventh time in the Jordan river. These lepers got the Word of God and only had to act on it.
When God gives us the answer to our problem, we need to believe and receive it and not keep looking at the problem and worrying over it. John 21:3-6 "Simon Peter saith unto them, I go a fishing. They say unto him, We also go with thee. They went forth, and entered into a ship immediately; and that night they caught nothing. But when the morning was now come, Jesus stood on the shore: but the disciples knew not that it was Jesus. Then Jesus saith unto them, Children, have ye any meat? They answered him, No. And he said unto them, Cast the net on the right side of the ship, and ye shall find. They cast therefore, and now they were not able to draw it for the multitude of fishes." On Christ's Word, after fishing all night without catching anything; they cast the net one more time into clear waters in daylight, when the fish could see the net and avoid it, and they caught the fish against all odds; experience or reason to these experienced fishermen; who responded at His Word, against all reason. We need only to hear and act on His Word. Hebrews 11:6 "But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him."
Luke 17:15 "And one of them, when he saw that he was healed, turned back, and with a loud voice glorified God," One of the ten came to glorify God. The other nine only wanted personal gain, to get back into the camp and go their own way. They didn't think they needed God anymore, as they did when they were lepers. Many today, as soon as they are blessed or healed by God, go their own way and forget Him. Many confessing Christians today are like these nine lepers, and think they need nothing more from God. They only want natural, material blessing in the physical realm, and have no concern for the spiritual blessing of Christ. Revelation 3:17 "Because thou sayest, I am rich, and increased with goods, and have need of nothing; and knowest not that thou art wretched, and miserable, and poor, and blind, and naked:" We must not forget the benefits and blessings of God. Only one was thankful and turned back to Christ. When we come to Him we must make a 180 degree change in the direction of our lives, as that one leper. Only then can our lives glorify God. Luke 19:37 "And when he was come nigh, even now at the descent of the mount of Olives, the whole multitude of the disciples began to rejoice and praise God with a loud voice for all the mighty works that they had seen;" This is the correct response to God's blessings.
Luke 17:16 "And fell down on his face at his feet, giving him thanks: and he was a Samaritan." As this leper humbled himself and fell at Jesus's feet, so we must humble ourselves daily. Let's be as Mary who sat at Jesus feet and not as Martha who was too busy doing other things. Luke 10:38-42 "Now it came to pass, as they went, that he entered into a certain village: and a certain woman named Martha received him into her house. And she had a sister called Mary, which also sat at Jesus feet, and heard his word. But Martha was cumbered about much serving, and came to him, and said, Lord, dost thou not care that my sister hath left me to serve alone? bid her therefore that she help me. And Jesus answered and said unto her, Martha, Martha, thou art careful and troubled about many things: But one thing is needful; and Mary hath chosen that good part, which shall not be taken away from her." Are you coming daily to Jesus' feet, or going your own way as the nine lepers did?
Luke 17:17 "And Jesus answering said, Were there not ten cleansed? but where are the nine?" Were there not ten cleansed Matthew 22:14 "For many are called, but few are chosen." Few will enter heavens door. It's those who humble at Jesus' feet. The other nine were healed, but not saved. So what good did their healing do them? It can't help them now.
Matthew 7:13-14 "Enter ye in at the strait gate: for wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that leadeth to destruction, and many there be which go in thereat: Because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it." Luke 13:24 "Strive to enter in at the strait gate: for many, I say unto you, will seek to enter in, and shall not be able." This is not an easy path to walk, it's difficult. You have to make sacrifices in this life to gain God's life. We have to give up our self life, lay down our life, to receive His. We have to give (or sow) in order to receive (or reap).
Luke 17:18 "There are not found that returned to give glory to God, save this stranger." The one who returned to glorify God was a Samaritan, the nine were Jews; but they put their trust and faith in the wrong place. We all need Christ, as all them, it makes no difference who you are, or your family background. "God is no respector of persons" (Acts 10:34). We have all sinned and are in the same place of need (Romans 3:23). Christ told the Pharisees that harlots and publicans would enter the kingdom of heaven before them (Matthew 21:31). Why? Matthew 21:32 "For John came unto you in the way of righteousness, and ye believed him not; but the publicans and the harlots believed him: and ye, when ye had seen it, repented not afterward, that ye might believe him." John 5:39-40 "Search the scriptures; for in them ye think ye have eternal life: and they are they which testify of me. And ye will not come to me, that ye might have life." They knew the law, but their hearts were wrong. God's Spirit is calling all who will come. Revelation 22:17 "And the Spirit and the bride say, Come. And let him that heareth say, Come. And let him that is athirst come. And whosoever will, let him take the water of life freely."
Luke 17:19 "And he said unto him, Arise, go thy way: thy faith hath made thee whole." In verse 14, the ten lepers received physical healing, but now this one received spiritual healing and was made completely whole. We need Jesus to make us whole; body, soul, and spirit; not just in body. 1Thes.5:23 "And the very God of peace sanctify you wholly; and I pray God your whole spirit and soul and body be preserved blameless unto the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ." Isaiah 53:5 "But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed." Psalm 103:1-3 "BLESS the Lord, O my soul: and all that is within me, bless his holy name. Bless the Lord, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits: Who forgiveth all thine iniquities; who healeth all thy diseases;" Calvary provided for both physical and spiritual healing. Why should we settle for less.
Jeremiah 3:22 "Return, ye backsliding children, and I will heal your backslidings. Behold, we come unto thee; for thou art the Lord our God." Hosea 6:1 "COME, and let us return unto the Lord: for he hath torn, and he will heal us; he hath smitten, and he will bind us up." Luke 4:18 "The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he hath anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor; he hath sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised,"
THE CLEANSING OF THE LEPER
LEVITICUS 14:1-4 "AND the Lord spake unto Moses, saying, This shall be the law of the leper in the day of his cleansing: He shall be brought unto the priest: And the priest shall go forth out of the camp; and the priest shall look, and, behold, if the plague of leprosy be healed in the leper; Then shall the priest command to take for him that is to be cleansed two birds alive and clean, and cedar wood, and scarlet, and hyssop:" This is to remove the smell of the leprosy. Leviticus 14:5 "And the priest shall command that one of the birds be killed in an earthen vessel over running water:" The blood and water mingled, as when Christ died on the cross; when the Roman soldier pierced his side with a spear. John 19:34 "But one of the soldiers with a spear pierced his side, and forthwith came there out blood and water." 1John 5:6 "This is he that came by water and blood, even Jesus Christ; not by water only, but by water and blood. And it is the Spirit that beareth witness, because the Spirit is truth."
Leviticus 14:6 "As for the living bird, he shall take it, and the cedar wood, and the scarlet, and the hyssop, and shall dip them and the living bird in the blood of the bird that was killed over the running water:" Cedar represents strength and it smells sweet. The leper received the strength of God to be restored and smell as a fresh fragrance. A pure fresh smell. Lepers smelled of rotting stinking flesh. God wants our life to be a sweet smelling savor. 2Corinthians 2:15 "For we are unto God a sweet savour of Christ, in them that are saved, and in them that perish:" Ephesians 5:2 "And walk in love, as Christ also hath loved us, and hath given himself for us an offering and a sacrifice to God for a sweetsmelling savour." So the priest looked at the leper in verse 3 (Leviticus 14), outside the camp, and commanded a sacrifice if there was no physical sign of live leprosy, and then pronounced him clean, after the blood was applied. Isaiah 1:18 "Come now, and let us reason together, saith the Lord: though your sins be as scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they be red like crimson, they shall be as wool." Leviticus 14:4-6 "Then shall the priest command to take for him that is to be cleansed two birds alive and clean, and cedar wood, and scarlet, and hyssop: And the priest shall command that one of the birds be killed in an earthen vessel over running water: As for the living bird, he shall take it, and the cedar wood, and the scarlet, and the hyssop, and shall dip them and the living bird in the blood of the bird that was killed over the running water:" Jesus died for our trespasses and was raised for our justification. Romans 4:25 "Who was delivered for our offences, and was raised again for our justification." The living bird dipped in to the blood of the dead bird and turned loose represents the resurrection of Christ. You can't separate the death and resurrection of Christ. They become a continuation, of one life to another. We have to die tot he old man (self) to be raised to newness of life in Christ. Romans 6:4-5 "Therefore we are buried with him by baptism into death: that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life. For if we have been planted together in the likeness of his death, we shall be also in the likeness of his resurrection:" The dipping of the cedar wood, scarlet and hyssop into the blood shows that ceremonies, rituals and ordinances can't cleanse one from sin. They all had to be dipped in blood from which they received their efficiency. Only the blood of Christ can atone for sin, and make us new creations. Christ living in us, the new man in us, by the working of the Holy Spirit makes us one with Christ. 1Corinthians 6:17 "But he that is joined unto the Lord is one spirit." John 14:10,11-13 "Believest thou not that I am in the Father, and the Father in me? the words that I speak unto you I speak not of myself: but the Father that dwelleth in me, he doeth the works. ...Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me, the works that I do shall he do also; and greater works than these shall he do; because I go unto my Father. And whatsoever ye shall ask in my name, that will I do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son." When Christ is in us, we become one with Him by His Spirit; then He works to glorify Himself in us. John 15:7 "If ye abide in me, and my words abide in you, ye shall ask what ye will, and it shall be done unto you." 1Jn 5:14-15 "And this is the confidence that we have in him, that, if we ask any thing according to his will, he heareth us: And if we know that he hear us, whatsoever we ask, we know that we have the petitions that we desired of him." Christ living in us, makes us a vessel He can work through to touch others. The Word becomes life; alive in us as we abide in Him, and puts flesh, finds expression through our lives. That's Christ living in and through you. John 17:22-23 "And the glory which thou gavest me I have given them; that they may be one, even as we are one: I in them, and thou in me, that they may be made perfect in one; and that the world may know that thou hast sent me, and hast loved them, as thou hast loved me." When we ask the Lord to heal someone, to do His will and glorify His Name, he will do it.
Leviticus 14:7 "And he shall sprinkle upon him that is to be cleansed from the leprosy seven times, and shall pronounce him clean, and shall let the living bird loose into the open field." The leper sprinkled seven times, as Naaman dipped seven times, showing perfect, complete cleansing and redemption. The live bird set free shows the leper is no longer in bondage, but is free to go within the camp, among God's people. John 8:32 "And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free." But we have to be continually cleansed. John 8:31 "Then said Jesus to those Jews which believed on him, If ye continue in my word, then are ye my disciples indeed;" 1John 1:7 "But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin." It's by continuing in His Word.
Psalm 55:6 "And I said, Oh that I had wings like a dove for then would I fly away, and be at rest." David through the spirit saw the redemption. When we are born again and filled with the Spirit we can enter into His rest. Isaiah 40:31 "But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint." The eagle can fly into the heavens, looking directly into the sun and not the earth. When we put our eyes on Him the things of this life become smaller.
Leviticus 14:8-9 "And he that is to be cleansed shall wash his clothes, and shave off all his hair, and wash himself in water, that he may be clean: and after that he shall come into the camp, and shall tarry abroad out of his tent seven days. But it shall be on the seventh day, that he shall shave all his hair off his head and his beard and his eyebrows, even all his hair he shall shave off: and he shall wash his clothes, also he shall wash his flesh in water, and he shall be clean." The leper had to be cleansed, as we are, of all sin. He had to wash his clothes, his body, shave his hair and tarry seven days. Leviticus 13:45-46 "And the leper in whom the plague is, his clothes shall be rent, and his head bare, and he shall put a covering upon his upper lip, and shall cry, Unclean, unclean. All the days wherein the plague shall be in him he shall be defiled; he is unclean: he shall dwell alone; without the camp shall his habitation be." The leper had no part in the camp among God's people. Phil.2:6-7 "Who, being in the form of God, thought it not robbery to be equal with God: But made himself of no reputation, and took upon him the form of a servant, and was made in the likeness of men:" Jesus left heaven and came to earth to suffer, representing coming out of the camp, the place of God's presence. John 19:17 "And he bearing his cross went forth into a place called the place of a skull, which is called in the Hebrew Golgotha:" Hebrews 13:11-12 "For the bodies of those beasts, whose blood is brought into the sanctuary by the high priest for sin, are burned without the camp. Wherefore Jesus also, that he might sanctify the people with his own blood, suffered without the gate." Outside the camp. Hebrews 13:13 "Let us go forth therefore unto him without the camp, bearing his reproach." Act 2:38 "Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost." Act 3:19 "Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out, when the times of refreshing shall come from the presence of the Lord;" We are still lepers till we confess our sins. The blood was shed, but doesn't provide atonement until it is put on the doorpost of our hearts by faith. Blood only provides cleansing when applied.
Exodus 12:13 "And the blood shall be to you for a token upon the houses where ye are: and when I see the blood, I will pass over you, and the plague shall not be upon you to destroy you, when I smite the land of Egypt." John 1:12 "But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name:" Romans 8:13-14 "For if ye live after the flesh, ye shall die: but if ye through the Spirit do mortify the deeds of the body, ye shall live. For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God." Romans 6:11-12 "Likewise reckon ye also yourselves to be dead indeed unto sin, but alive unto God through Jesus Christ our Lord. Let not sin therefore reign in your mortal body, that ye should obey it in the lusts thereof." Romans 6:4 "Therefore we are buried with him by baptism into death: that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life." Christ living in us. When Paul persecuted the believers, Christ said he was persecuting Him! Because he persecuted those in whom Christ lived by His Spirit. Christ died for us without the camp that we could come into the presence of the Father. He cleansed us, sprinkled us with His blood, washed us with the water of the Word and gave us His strength and a sweet smell and set us free to walk in newness of life, to walk in the Spirit. Hebrews 10:22 "Let us draw near with a true heart in full assurance of faith, having our hearts sprinkled from an evil conscience, and our bodies washed with pure water." Ephesians 5:25-26 "Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the church, and gave himself for it; That he might sanctify and cleanse it with the washing of water by the word," Gal.2:20 "I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me." Our life now is not our own, but His!
1Peter 1:18-19 "Forasmuch as ye know that ye were not redeemed with corruptible things, as silver and gold, from your vain conversation received by tradition from your fathers; But with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot:" 1Corinthians 6:20 "For ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are Gods." 2Corinthians 5:14-15 "For the love of Christ constraineth us; because we thus judge, that if one died for all, then were all dead: And that he died for all, that they which live should not henceforth live unto themselves, but unto him which died for them, and rose again."
