No Trust or Hope in Ourselves

Psalm 143:1Hear my prayer, O LORD, give ear to my supplications: in thy faithfulness answer me, and in thy righteousness.” “Thy righteousness” - we don’t have any. (V.2) “And enter not into judgment with thy servant: for in thy sight shall no man living be justified.” He is saying, I’m guilty and I deserve judgment, but don’t enter into judgment against me, for there is none righteous, none justified before you.  Psalm 142:5-6I cried unto thee, O LORD: I said, Thou art my refuge and my portion in the land of the living.  Attend unto my cry; for I am brought very low: deliver me from my persecutors; for they are stronger than I.  “Attend” - listen to, hear my cry; “They are stronger than I” - the powers of hell are too strong for us.  (V.7) “Bring my soul out of prison, that I may praise thy name: the righteous shall compass me about; for thou shalt deal bountifully with me.  No matter how Satan may be condemning you, God’s Word gives you the ammunition to cast down and destroy his lies. In our mind we hear thoughts and the powers of hell speak to our minds and tell us why God doesn’t love us any more and why He has deserted us and left us and it’s to late for us, and on and on. They tell you why God can’t or won’t deliver you, but it’s all lies. That’s why we are told to cast down all imaginations and thoughts contrary to the Word of God. This is God’s truth.

Psalm 145:14The LORD upholdeth all that fall, and raiseth up all those that be bowed down.  God will uphold, sustain and raise you up, if you will look to Him.  (V.15-16) “The eyes of all wait upon thee; and thou givest them their meat in due season.  Thou openest thine hand, and satisfiest the desire of every living thing.  Are you living?  Do you desire to be holy?  To be circumcised in heart?  To be complete in Christ?  The Word of God says He will bring it to pass.  It’s the same as “They that hunger and thirst after righteousness shall be filled.” (V.17) “The LORD is righteous in all his ways, and holy in all his works.  God’s ways.  The Devil will tell you, “what right does God have to set you free again?  What right do you have to be delivered and forgiven - again?  How many times have you fallen?  Here is another truth from God. (V.18) “The LORD is nigh unto all them that call upon him, to all that call upon him in truth.  Are you calling upon His Name? [Say: Jesus, I’m calling upon you to deliver me.  I believe you will keep your promise to set me free from bondage and the enemy that is too strong for me.] (V.19) “He will fulfil the desire of them that fear him: he also will hear their cry, and will save them.  (Hebrew Definition: “to be safe, to free, help, preserve, rescue, bring or (having) salvation, save, get victory)  Do you believe that?  This is God’s ways.  (V.20) “The LORD preserveth all them that love him: but all the wicked will he destroy.  The wicked are those who will not call upon the Lord.  Job tells us that when God binds the hypocrites, they will not cry out to Him - that’s those in his house who are self-righteous, that God calls wicked - those who hear His Word, but will not do it (Job 36:13 ).  Don’t let the Devil tell you how wicked you are, and that you’re too wicked, you’ve sinned too much, gone too far to be forgiven.  We are all wicked without Christ, and Isaiah 64:6 said all our righteousness is as “filthy rags” before God.  Romans 3:10 says there is still “none righteous, no not one”.  Next time the Devil tells you that you’re wicked, say “yes, I am, but the blood of Jesus has covered me and I have been made the righteousness of God in Christ Jesus.  Of course, this only applies if you’ve confessed all sin. Psalm 145:21My mouth shall speak the praise of the LORD: and let all flesh bless his holy name for ever and ever.

We are talking about having no trust or hope in ourselves.  Let’s look at some people with hope in themselves, who trust in themselves and think that because they have learned the Word of God, that they have it made.  It means nothing to learn or even memorize the entirety of the Word of God, if it is not transforming your life and becoming life to you and bringing you the life of God.  Let’s look at two kinds of hearts.  One full of pride and self-righteousness and another in total humility and meekness before God.  Luke 18:1-3And he spake a parable unto them to this end, that men ought always to pray, and not to faint; Saying, There was in a city a judge, which feared not God, neither regarded man: And there was a widow in that city; and she came unto him, saying, Avenge me of mine adversary.”  The key here is that she kept coming to that judge and pleading her case.  Are you doing that before the Father?  Who is your adversary that you need to be avenged of?  You better go to the Lord for power to fight the powers of hell and stand in His strength alone (Ephesians 6:10).  (V.4-5)  “And he would not for a while: but afterward he said within himself, Though I fear not God, nor regard man; Yet because this widow troubleth me, I will avenge her, lest by her continual coming she weary me.”  Now God is not like this unjust judge, He is willing to help and deliver us, but He waits sometimes to see our resolve and determination, to see if we mean business.  You can’t bother God by coming to Him in prayer, unless your heart is wicked and unrepentant and self-righteous.  But the Lord himself gave us the pattern: “ask - seek - knock” - until we receive the answer we desire of Him (Matthew 7:7-8).  (V.6) And the Lord said, Hear what the unjust judge saith.”  Now he points to his divine nature and power (V.7) “And shall not God avenge his own elect, which cry day and night unto him, though he bear long with them? Notice who God calls His elect.  (V.8) “I tell you that he will avenge them speedily. Nevertheless when the Son of man cometh, shall he find faith on the earth?  Faith, is manifested in one who keeps crying out to God, trusting in Him alone, and depending upon Him alone.  (V.9) “And he spake this parable unto certain which trusted in themselves that they were righteous, and despised others:  These say I’m saved, sanctified, and filled with the Holy Ghost and I don’t need to keep crying out to God. (V.10-11) “Two men went up into the temple to pray; the one a Pharisee, and the other a publican.  The Pharisee stood and prayed thus with himself, God, I thank thee, that I am not as other men are, extortioners, unjust, adulterers, or even as this publican.  Now this Pharisee didn’t know he was just praying to himself.  But God doesn’t regard what he prays or consider it because of his self-righteousness.  The publican was the worse of thieves, like the Mafia.  (V.12) “I fast twice in the week, I give tithes of all that I possess.  He thought he was earning his salvation and deserved it because of his good works, and didn’t know that salvation is a free gift of God to those who put their faith in Him.  (V.13-14) “And the publican, standing afar off, would not lift up so much as his eyes unto heaven, but smote upon his breast, saying, God be merciful to me a sinner.  I tell you, this man went down to his house justified rather than the other: for every one that exalteth himself shall be abased; and he that humbleth himself shall be exalted.”  Was the Pharisee exalting himself?  [Say: ‘Lord, I’m absolutely nothing. You are everything. Put your everything in me and set me free from myself.] Jesus only comes to those who need Him and cry out to Him, not those who are satisfied to religion, who are only being reverent to religious demons.

Proverbs 23:7aFor as he thinketh in his heart, so is he:”  Let’s not be this way; but let us have the mind of Christ and know that we can do nothing in ourselves without Him (John 15:5).  This is no time for passivity, lukewarmness and compromise.  God raises up all that are bowed down who cry out to Him.  When God answers by fire the powers of hell will leave you and you will stand in His glory and power.  Proverbs 24:10If thou faint in the day of adversity, thy strength is small.”  Is this a day of adversity?  The reason your strength is small and insufficient is that you are not continually crying out to Him to get more of His strength to stand against the powers of hell. Everything not crying out to God is holding onto deception in the form of doctrines or religion or church denominations, and they trust in confusion and the strength and authority of man, rather than God.  Jeremiah 12:5If thou hast run with the footmen, and they have wearied thee, then how canst thou contend with horses? and if in the land of peace, wherein thou trustedst, they wearied thee, then how wilt thou do in the swelling of Jordan?”  Let’s look at some people who trusted in deception.

Deuteronomy 1:32Yet in this thing ye did not believe the LORD your God,”  After all that God had done for them.  Most confessing Christians today are trained to trust in themselves and their religion, like once-saved always saved, rather than the power and grace of God.  We have to rise up against the powers of hell and grind them to dust under our feet.  (Psalms 18:39-42  Remember Deuteronomy was given to those who entered into the promised land, not those who came out of Egypt who perished in the wilderness.  It means to be brought out in order than they might be brought in.  If you’re not trusting in God you’re trusting in religion, lies and confusion.

Isaiah 59:4None calleth for justice, nor any pleadeth for truth: they trust in vanity, and speak lies; they conceive mischief, and bring forth iniquity.”  “Vanity” means “in vain, confusion, nothing, thing of naught, wilderness.”  “Conceive” means “to be with child, progenitor.”  Look at the offspring, the fruit of their lives.  “Mischief” means “perverseness, wickedness” (V.5a) “They hatch cockatrice' eggs, and weave the spider's web:”  They do everything for the satisfying of their flesh. They cry give me, give me; instead of change me, change me oh God.  “Cockatrice” is the  adder.  This is the most venomous and deadly of snakes.  They plant their eggs in others by speaking their lies.  (V.5b) “he that eateth of their eggs dieth, and that which is crushed breaketh out into a viper.”  “Eateth of their eggs” - those who hear and believe their lies, will die. They don’t bring life to others, but death.  Those who eat their eggs, their lies, receive a snake, a Devil in the name of religion.  Satan takes you captive through your thought realm.  It begins with your thoughts.  Yet so many just talk of how they jump and shout and turn cartwheels in church.  You won’t break or humble yourself when God tries to break you, but you rise up in anger.  (V.6a) Their webs shall not become garments, neither shall they cover themselves with their works:”  “Webs” are their sins.  You try to hide your sins from God’s eyes.  But all you do will not cover your spiritual nakedness.  (V.6b) “their works are works of iniquity, and the act of violence is in their hands.”  “Works of iniquity” - all works of and for their flesh.  Me, me, me.  (V.7-8a) “Their feet run to evil, and they make haste to shed innocent blood: their thoughts are thoughts of iniquity; wasting and destruction are in their paths.  The way of peace they know not; and there is no judgment in their goings:”  “Way of Peace”, they don’t walk with Christ on the narrow way, but with devils.  (V.8b) “they have made them crooked paths: whosoever goeth therein shall not know peace.”  The demon powers are treading upon them; instead the opposite should be for believers of Luke 10:19Behold, I give unto you power to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy: and nothing shall by any means hurt you.”  [say:  “Lord do the work in me.  I’m laying my works down.  I can’t change myself.  Change me.  I can’t save myself…. heal myself, my hope is in you!]

This is what will happen to those who trust in themselves and try to do it in themselves.  How futile it is to meet professing Christians and try to talk to them about Christ and they just want to know how were you baptized, and by what formula, and if you speak in tongues or not, all as pre-requisites for salvation by their doctrine.  They don’t truly love Him, but their doctrines.  Deuteronomy 28:49The LORD shall bring a nation against thee from far, from the end of the earth, as swift as the eagle flieth; a nation whose tongue thou shalt not understand;”  The nation from afar is demon powers coming against you.  An eagle is a bird of prey that consumes flesh; in other words, these demons consume all who walk in the flesh.  You will not be able to understand their language.  For they continue to bombard you with lies, confusion and violence. They afflict you and you say, “I don’t understand why I’m going through all this; why nothing seems to go right for me; why I keep getting attacked.”  (V.50-51) “A nation of fierce countenance, which shall not regard the person of the old, nor show favour to the young:  And he shall eat the fruit of thy cattle, and the fruit of thy land, until thou be destroyed: which also shall not leave thee either corn, wine, or oil, or the increase of thy kine, or flocks of thy sheep, until he have destroyed thee.”  When the joy of your salvation is being taken from you and you are empty inside, they are eating your life for lunch.  (V.52)” And he shall besiege thee in all thy gates, until thy high and fenced walls come down, wherein thou trustedst, throughout all thy land: and he shall besiege thee in all thy gates throughout all thy land, which the LORD thy God hath given thee.”   Your fenced walls in which you trust are religious doctrines.  When your walls, your defenses are down, then the powers of hell march into your life.  As the angels of the Lord encamp around those who fear God, the demons encamp around the lives of those who do not fear God.  When your wall of protection comes down, they will enter your life and rob you of what God has given you.  If you don’t take hold of your salvation, the powers of hell will take it from you.  (1Timothy 6:12,19) Some trust in riches, in jobs, in family, in church, in themselves; you better trust in Jesus.  Let’s not be like others.  Jesus himself said “of mine own self, I can do nothing”  (John 5:30).  So what makes you think you can?  Jesus told us, “without me ye can do nothing:”  (John 15:5). Paul said, “By the grace of God I am what I am” (1Corinthians 15:10).

Psalms 146:3Put not your trust in princes, nor in the son of man, in whom there is no help.”  Don’t trust in any man; they can’t offer you anything.  Micah 7:5Trust ye not in a friend, put ye not confidence in a guide: keep the doors of thy mouth from her that lieth in thy bosom.; Psalms 41:9Yea, mine own familiar friend, in whom I trusted, which did eat of my bread, hath lifted up his heel against me.”  Put your trust in Jesus.  Most friendships are based upon ‘what’s in it for me.’

(Sept.93) I have a Prophecy to share with you: Cease heading the way you’ve been going and turn to me says the Lord. Lucifer who is armed for warfare on his horse is coming with a powerful army behind him to take vengeance against the children of God. The day is close. A day of terror when Lucifer will try to annihilate all those who live a clean life. A day of pain and terror is so near. If you could see what is being prepared and what will happen, you would surely quit doing everything in your heart that you know to be wrong and you would seek peace more than ever. Be prepared to be holy and don’t give into the temptations and the impulses of the enemy. Seek the Lord your God with all your heart. Those who will be clean, those who will be holy I will not forget. I will save them says the Lord. The armies are coming against those who worship me and truly seek me with great fury. Pray that I may give you strength so that before the storm comes I may save you and give you the joy. Those that live in defilement, that meditate upon evil things will have no escape. They will not have my protection. I will destroy Babylon says the Lord because of the wickedness and the blasphemy of this country. Not only here, but where ever there is sin, I will punish it harshly. Only the righteous will I save, some even out of the midst of the fire. Again I tell you, a dark cloud is gathered . Lucifer standing on his black horse is ready for war. The trumpet of the Devil is sounding day and night, to all the demons of the deep to prepare to make war against those who truly live their lives for God. There will be such turmoil that only a few will escape. Those that today only carry the name of believer, will fight with fury against those who worship me with a clean heart. This is why I have revealed this to you because the days are numbered. I reveal to you, I speak to you, I show to you says the Lord, but many do not want to remember, saying to themselves, “is it truly the Lord  speaking this?” Others  become scared for the moment but then they forget and never become pure. Many of those who carry the name Christian, are overcome by greed, fornication, drunkenness, and pursuit for great wealth. There is no time to loose. The day of destruction and terror is coming soon. The Devil is agitated and a great deception is being prepared. But I tell you, do not fear. I have the power to protect those who obey me. You must remember the Word of God. For if you will not obey, the day of terror will come and you will suffer together with the wicked and the defiled. I will punish all the wickedness of this world and all the sin in this place. Be awake and waiting, because if you will not, you will be punished as the wicked and also loose your salvation for your disobedience. Disobedience is punished more than anything else says the Holy Spirit. Pray for your children and stop them from doing worldly things. Tell them that the wrath of God is coming and that they must be prepared for that day. Tell them to read the Bible and to pray that I may also save them. The great day, the day of terror, the day of affliction, of pain; for the punishment of Babylon prophesied in the Bible is coming soon and I will only spare the righteous says the Lord. I forgive who I want, I make holy who I want, I prepare who I want. Judge no one for mine is the judgment says the Lord. Each of you judge yourselves. Pray and draw close to me. And if you will obey I will come to your  aid. I will send a chariot of salvation and take each one out in his appointed time.]

            {You ask the Lord for yourself if you question this prophecy. The Bible says the spiritual man judges all things (1Cor.2:15). 1Cor.14:29 tells us that when one gives a prophecy the others judge it. How, by the Word of God. }

Jeremiah 6:17Also I set watchmen over you, saying, Hearken to the sound of the trumpet. But they said, We will not hearken.”  God is warning us. The trumpet is sounding. (V.18-20) “Therefore hear, ye nations, and know, O congregation, what is among them.  Hear, O earth: behold, I will bring evil upon this people, even the fruit of their thoughts, because they have not hearkened unto my words, nor to my law, but rejected it.  To what purpose cometh there to me incense from Sheba, and the sweet cane from a far country? your burnt offerings are not acceptable, nor your sacrifices sweet unto me.”  They’re doing all these things to try to please God, but He doesn’t accept them.  (V.21) “Therefore thus saith the LORD, Behold, I will lay stumblingblocks before this people, and the fathers and the sons together shall fall upon them; the neighbour and his friend shall perish.”  Here are people who will go to hell because of their friendships.  Better watch who you walk with.

Psalms 52:7Lo, this is the man that made not God his strength; but trusted in the abundance of his riches, and strengthened himself in his wickedness.”  The prosperity preachers are going to be brought down, even to hell.  God calls preaching for money the wages of divination (Numbers 22:7).  Proverbs 11:28He that trusteth in his riches shall fall: but the righteous shall flourish as a branch.”  Notice the righteous, in contrast to the one who trusts in riches.  Some like to trust in their gifts from God.

Ezekiel 16:14aAnd thy renown went forth among the heathen for thy beauty:”  This is the beauty of holiness and the gifts that God entrusts us with.  The beauty is God’s work within you. (V.14b) “for it was perfect through my comeliness, which I had put upon thee, saith the Lord GOD.”  But those who trust in their gifts become a spiritual harlot. This is what Lucifer did. (V.15, 32) “But thou didst trust in thine own beauty, and playedst the harlot because of thy renown, and pouredst out thy fornications on every one that passed by; his it was.”  But as a wife that committeth adultery, which taketh strangers instead of her husband!”   We are married to Jesus, and the strangers we take are demon powers.

Hosea 10:11aAnd Ephraim is as an heifer that is taught, and loveth to tread out the corn;”  They were taught by man’s religion.  (V.11b) “but I passed over upon her fair neck: I will make Ephraim to ride; Judah shall plow, and Jacob shall break his clods.”  If you want to be saved, become helpless before God.  Ephraim was the first born and speaks of strength.  Our strength must be from Him.  (V.12a)Sow to yourselves in righteousness, reap in mercy; break up your fallow ground:”  “Righteousness” - the character and nature of the new creation.  “Fallow ground” - The hardness in your heart that keeps you from obeying God.  Remove the rocks in your heart and prepare it to receive the seed of God’s Word.  (V.12b)for it is time to seek the LORD, till he come and rain righteousness upon you.”  You seek Him until he establishes you in righteousness.  This is where we should be in time.  (V.13a) “Ye have plowed wickedness, ye have reaped iniquity; ye have eaten the fruit of lies:”  “Eaten. . lies” - Religious lies from false preachers.  Adders eggs.  You believed their lying doctrines that taught you God’s grace was grease and you could just slide by in your sins, that God wouldn’t see them.  (V.13b) “because thou didst trust in thy way, in the multitude of thy mighty men.”  For your salvation!  Do you see that?  So many love to surround themselves with ‘yes’ people, who will always agree with them.  What will God do to those who trust in themselves?  (V.14-15) “Therefore shall a tumult arise among thy people, and all thy fortresses shall be spoiled, as Shalman spoiled Betharbel in the day of battle: the mother was dashed in pieces upon her children.  So shall Bethel do unto you because of your great wickedness: in a morning shall the king of Israel utterly be cut off.”  Bethel is the house of God.  “In a morning” is the dawning of a new day.  This is a new day dawning upon us.  If we don’t put our faith and trust in Him, we will be cut off.

Jeremiah 13:19The cities of the south shall be shut up, and none shall open them: Judah shall be carried away captive all of it, it shall be wholly carried away captive.”  Judah speaks of praise and worship.  Those who praise and worship him without pure hearts will be taken captive by the enemy.  (V.20-22) “Lift up your eyes, and behold them that come from the north: where is the flock that was given thee, thy beautiful flock?  What wilt thou say when he shall punish thee? for thou hast taught them to be captains, and as chief over thee: shall not sorrows take thee, as a woman in travail?  And if thou say in thine heart, Wherefore come these things upon me? For the greatness of thine iniquity are thy skirts discovered, and thy heels made bare.”  What’s the problem?  Can you change yourself?  No!  When you received salvation you made the first step toward God.  When you received the baptism of the Holy Ghost you received a second step toward God.  But these were not that you would stop seeking Him and crying out to Him to change you, but to enable you to do more so.  He gives a parable.  (V.23) “Can the Ethiopian change his skin, or the leopard his spots? then may ye also do good, that are accustomed to do evil.”  If they could change their skin color, then they could also do good instead of evil.  It is normal and natural for man to be evil, and supernatural for man to be righteous.  It is only by the work of Christ in our lives can we be holy and righteous.  (V.24-26) “Therefore will I scatter them as the stubble that passeth away by the wind of the wilderness.  This is thy lot, the portion of thy measures from me, saith the LORD; because thou hast forgotten me, and trusted in falsehood.  Therefore will I discover thy skirts upon thy face, that thy shame may appear.”  God removes the work of holiness He did in this life.  He removes the garments of salvation, and of his righteousness from this life.  (V.27) “I have seen thine adulteries, and thy neighings, the lewdness of thy whoredom, and thine abominations on the hills in the fields. Woe unto thee, O Jerusalem! wilt thou not be made clean? when shall it once be?”  How long can you remain clean when God removes form your life the work He has done in you?

Here is some who trust in their church.  Jeremiah 7:1-2The word that came to Jeremiah from the LORD, saying, Stand in the gate of the Lord's house, and proclaim there this word, and say, Hear the word of the LORD, all ye of Judah, that enter in at these gates to worship the LORD.”  Are we in His house?  Is Judah those who praise and worship God?  Have you come her for that purpose today?  If so, then listen to this.  (V.3-4) “Thus saith the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel, Amend your ways and your doings, and I will cause you to dwell in this place.  Trust ye not in lying words, saying, The temple of the LORD, The temple of the LORD, The temple of the LORD, are these.”  This is those who think because they go to church, God will overlook their sins and accept them.  You are the temple of God  (1Corinthians 3:16), not a building made with hands (Acts 17:23-24).  You are becoming a dwelling place for the Spirit of God (Ephesians 2:22), if He is working in your life.  God doesn’t dwell in physical temples anymore.  (V.5-6) “For if ye thoroughly amend your ways and your doings; if ye thoroughly execute judgment between a man and his neighbour; If ye oppress not the stranger, the fatherless, and the widow, and shed not innocent blood in this place, neither walk after other gods to your hurt:”  “Other gods” is demon powers. (V.7-9) “Then will I cause you to dwell in this place, in the land that I gave to your fathers, for ever and ever.  Behold, ye trust in lying words, that cannot profit.  Will ye steal, murder, and commit adultery, and swear falsely, and burn incense unto Baal, and walk after other gods whom ye know not;”  Again “gods” referring to the demon powers that men bow down to and serve, when they give themselves to these sins.  (V.10) “And come and stand before me in this house, which is called by my name, and say, We are delivered to do all these abominations?”  How can they do these things?  Because God hasn’t done the work in them. (V.11) “Is this house, which is called by my name, become a den of robbers in your eyes? Behold, even I have seen it, saith the LORD.”  This is all the money changers, those who sell the Word of God and gifts of God.  (V.12) “But go ye now unto my place which was in Shiloh, where I set my name at the first, and see what I did to it for the wickedness of my people Israel.”  In the beginning the power of God came down in Shiloh, there was revival.  But then God destroyed it because of their sins.  (V.13-16) “And now, because ye have done all these works, saith the LORD, and I spake unto you, rising up early and speaking, but ye heard not; and I called you, but ye answered not; Therefore will I do unto this house, which is called by my name, wherein ye trust, and unto the place which I gave to you and to your fathers, as I have done to Shiloh.  And I will cast you out of my sight, as I have cast out all your brethren, even the whole seed of Ephraim.  Therefore pray not thou for this people, neither lift up cry nor prayer for them, neither make intercession to me: for I will not hear thee.”  It is coming to that time when the one who is filthy, God says let him remain filthy (Revelation 22:11).

Jeremiah 17:5Thus saith the LORD; Cursed be the man that trusteth in man, and maketh flesh his arm, and whose heart departeth from the LORD.”  Don’t let your strength come from man, don’t trust in flesh.  What is the problem with these?  Their heart has turned from the Lord. Men want to trust in anything and everything but God.  Here’s one for those who believe in once-saved always saved, you can’t loose it.  I don’t care what vision you once had, or what experience with God, or what gift God gave you.  They don’t save you and they won’t keep you from forfeiting your salvation if you start walking in sin.  Salvation is a life long process.

Ezekiel 33:12-13, 18Therefore, thou son of man, say unto the children of thy people, The righteousness of the righteous shall not deliver him in the day of his transgression: as for the wickedness of the wicked, he shall not fall thereby in the day that he turneth from his wickedness; neither shall the righteous be able to live for his righteousness in the day that he sinneth.  When I shall say to the righteous, that he shall surely live; if he trust to his own righteousness, and commit iniquity, all his righteousnesses shall not be remembered; but for his iniquity that he hath committed, he shall die for it.”  Is that clear?  Unless you repent of your sin, for it you will die; no matter how righteous you once were.  We have to trust in the Lord alone. [Say: Lord, I’m going to trust in you.  You are my refuge.  You are my shield and protection.  You are my strength, my life, my savior, my deliverer, and my God.]

Proverbs 28:26 “He that trusteth in his own heart is a fool: but whoso walketh wisely, he shall be delivered.”  Who said this man is a fool?  Have you ever had demons oppress you?  Did you cry out to God?  Or did you say, well I’ll just watch TV, because I know if I pray or read my Bible, I won’t get anything out of it.  That’s trusting in oppression.  That’s putting you faith in how you feel and what you feel.

Psalms 62:10Trust not in oppression, and become not vain in robbery: if riches increase, set not your heart upon them.”  If you’re going through hell, who do you trust in?  If you’re being tested, tempted and tried, who do you trust in?  2 Corinthians 1:9But we had the sentence of death in ourselves, that we should not trust in ourselves, but in God which raiseth the dead:”  We need God to put that sentence of death in us that we will not trust in ourselves for anything.  Some say, I can look and lust and not touch it.  You’re a fool.  You better put no faith in yourself, but in Him to deliver you from yourself.

Hosea 14:1O Israel, return unto the LORD thy God; for thou hast fallen by thine iniquity.”  Chapter 13 tells of Ephraim’s destruction because of sin.  The one who should have the strength of God and be the heir, but he was spiritually dead.  Some say they can ‘prophesy their own destiny.’  They are fools.  ‘Return’ - how can you return to God, if you never left Him?  They left Him by sin and rebellion.  God is speaking to His people and telling them to return to Him by returning to obedience.  (V.2a) “Take with you words, and turn to the LORD:”  What words are you to take with you when you come to God?  He tells us.  (V.2b) “say unto him, Take away all iniquity, and receive us graciously: so will we render the calves of our lips.”  If you’re not asking Him to deliver you, then what makes you think he will do it?  If you’re not crying to Him for salvation, why should He save you?  God wants you to ask Him to remove your iniquity, not ask Him for a new car. (V.3a) “Asshur shall not save us;”  Asshur is Assyria and represents compromise and mixture.  It’s not going all the way back on God to where you were before salvation, but playing with petty sins, flirting with sin.  Trying to serve God without knowing and doing His will.  We are not to trust in compromise, or in our own strength (horses).  Horses are a type of the power of the flesh.  We stop looking to self and to men.  (V.3b) “we will not ride upon horses: neither will we say any more to the work of our hands, Ye are our gods: for in thee the fatherless findeth mercy.”  We stop worshipping what we have done, the works of our hands, our man-made kingdoms, our religious works.  Some men brag how so many came to Christ when they preached and how greatly God is using them.  So what!  This is idolatry.  That doesn’t make you anything.  You may speak the Word and plant the seed, but God has to give the increase.  He saves, not us.  Only by His mercy is our heart changed.  “Fatherless” - the orphan has no father, so the religious only have no heavenly Father.  (V.4) “I will heal their backsliding, I will love them freely: for mine anger is turned away from him.”  This is a heart bent to always giving into sin.  The sin that so easily besets you, again and again.  They are quick to fall and give into sin and temptation.  God says he will heal us of our backsliding so easily.  (V.5)I will be as the dew unto Israel: he shall grow as the lily, and cast forth his roots as Lebanon.”  “Dew” is water, representing the Holy Spirit.  “Lily” - the lily is Jesus.  It is saying we will produce the fruit of Jesus, the beauty of His nature and character.  You will be strong in the Lord.  “As Lebanon” is referring to the cedars of Lebanon, trees very strong, not easily blown over by winds.  We are to be strong like them, not easily blown about by the powers of hell, by adversity coming against us, but firmly established in God’s strength, rooted and grounded in Christ.  (V.6) “His branches shall spread, and his beauty shall be as the olive tree, and his smell as Lebanon.”  You will have the strength of God, you will have spiritual offspring, and you will have the fragrance of God upon your life.  Jesus is the olive tree.  (V.7) “They that dwell under his shadow shall return; they shall revive as the corn, and grow as the vine: the scent thereof shall be as the wine of Lebanon.”  “Under his shadow” is in the presence of Jesus.  Again, Jesus is the vine. The wine of Lebanon speaks of having God’s best.  (V.8) “Ephraim shall say, What have I to do any more with idols? I have heard him, and observed him: I am like a green fir tree. From me is thy fruit found.”  So why do you think you can produce the proper fruit in yourself?  Now let’s look at those who trust in God instead of everything else but Him.  [Say: I reject trusting in myself and my religious experiences, my visions, my Bible knowledge, my gifts, and all that is of my flesh.  I’m trusting in God alone.]

Psalms 125:1A Song of degrees. They that trust in the LORD shall be as mount Zion, which cannot be removed, but abideth for ever.”  Can Mt. Zion be captured or conquered?  Are we to be “more than overcomers” in Christ according to Rom.8!  Why?  Because our trust is in Him. “Cannot be moved” - no matter what the demons do or say, you are not moved by them.

Psalms 127:1aA Song of degrees for Solomon. Except the LORD build the house, they labour in vain that build it:”  You can build your own spiritual life.  You can’t give yourself salvation.

2 Chronicles 14:9-10And there came out against them Zerah the Ethiopian with an host of a thousand thousand, and three hundred chariots; and came unto Mareshah.  Then Asa went out against him, and they set the battle in array in the valley of Zephathah at Mareshah.”  Asa was anointed by God and called to be a leader of the people by God.  God’s favor is with him, because he trusted in God.  But the enemy mounts war against Asa, as he does to all who come to the Lord.  Salvation is warfare.  (V.11) “And Asa cried unto the LORD his God, and said, LORD, it is nothing with thee to help, whether with many, or with them that have no power: help us, O LORD our God; for we rest on thee, and in thy name we go against this multitude. O LORD, thou art our God; let not man prevail against thee.”  Asa knew the path to the grace of God was the path of prayer that he had tried before.  He knew that he was not able to defeat the enemy in his own strength and so he called out to God.  [say: Father we have no strength.  You are our strength. We trust in thee.]  So what did God do for Asa?  (V.12) “So the LORD smote the Ethiopians before Asa, and before Judah; and the Ethiopians fled.

2 Chronicles 15:1-2And the Spirit of God came upon Azariah the son of Oded:  And he went out to meet Asa, and said unto him, Hear ye me, Asa, and all Judah and Benjamin; The LORD is with you, while ye be with him; and if ye seek him, he will be found of you; but if ye forsake him, he will forsake you.”  That is a secret.  You must keep seeking Him.  If you stop seeking Him, that is called forsaking Him.  (V.3-6) “Now for a long season Israel hath been without the true God, and without a teaching priest, and without law.  But when they in their trouble did turn unto the LORD God of Israel, and sought him, he was found of them.  And in those times there was no peace to him that went out, nor to him that came in, but great vexations were upon all the inhabitants of the countries.  And nation was destroyed of nation, and city of city: for God did vex them with all adversity.”  If you’re under distress, it’s God doing it to force you to call upon Him.  (V.7) “Be ye strong therefore, and let not your hands be weak: for your work shall be rewarded.”  Just do everything you know to please God.  (V.8) “And when Asa heard these words, and the prophecy of Oded the prophet, he took courage, and put away the abominable idols out of all the land of Judah and Benjamin, and out of the cities which he had taken from mount Ephraim, and renewed the altar of the LORD, that was before the porch of the LORD.”  Is the altar for sacrifice and prayer?  Are you becoming God’s altar?  What does God do with the altar?  He sends His fire to consume the sacrifice.  Is your life becoming a living sacrifice that God can send the fire of the Holy Spirit upon, so that you will have new life?  The old life is consumed so that new life can begin.  We must die to the old man, so we can walk in “newness of life.”  Now we will see that prayer always goes along with the altar.  (V.9-12)And he gathered all Judah and Benjamin, and the strangers with them out of Ephraim and Manasseh, and out of Simeon: for they fell to him out of Israel in abundance, when they saw that the LORD his God was with him.    So they gathered themselves together at Jerusalem in the third month, in the fifteenth year of the reign of Asa.  And they offered unto the LORD the same time, of the spoil which they had brought, seven hundred oxen and seven thousand sheep.  And they entered into a covenant to seek the LORD God of their fathers with all their heart and with all their soul;”  This is how you enter into covenant with God.  The first commandments “thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all they heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy might.”  (Deuteronomy 6:5). They had a heart that was determined to seek after God to hear form Him.  (V.13-14) “That whosoever would not seek the LORD God of Israel should be put to death, whether small or great, whether man or woman.  And they sware unto the LORD with a loud voice, and with shouting, and with trumpets, and with cornets.”  Now that’s getting into worship.  (V.15) “And all Judah rejoiced at the oath: for they had sworn with all their heart, and sought him with their whole desire; and he was found of them: and the LORD gave them rest round about.”  How do you know when you’ve found the Lord?  When He gives you rest from all your enemies.  Are we entering the sabbath rest of God?  It was “round about.”  On every side.  No matter where they turned or went, the peace of God was with them and they had His rest and the powers of hell couldn’t touch them.

Psalms 33:13The LORD looketh from heaven; he beholdeth all the sons of men.”  God is looking to see who will seek Him.  Many only seek parties and flesh fellowship.  Are you seeking the fellowship of God?  (V.14-15)From the place of his habitation he looketh upon all the inhabitants of the earth.  He fashioneth their hearts alike; he considereth all their works.”  “Fashioneth” - We are His workmanship (Ephesians 2:10) and He is working in us according to His will and good pleasure (Philippians 2:13).  (V.16-18) “There is no king saved by the multitude of an host: a mighty man is not delivered by much strength.  An horse is a vain thing for safety: neither shall he deliver any by his great strength.  Behold, the eye of the LORD is upon them that fear him, upon them that hope in his mercy;”  Those who fear Him are those who trust in Him and hope in Him.  (V.19-22) “To deliver their soul from death, and to keep them alive in famine.  Our soul waiteth for the LORD: he is our help and our shield.  For our heart shall rejoice in him, because we have trusted in his holy name.  Let thy mercy, O LORD, be upon us, according as we hope in thee.

Psalms 62:5-8My soul, wait thou only upon God; for my expectation is from him.  He only is my rock and my salvation: he is my defence; I shall not be moved.  In God is my salvation and my glory: the rock of my strength, and my refuge, is in God. Trust in him at all times; ye people, pour out your heart before him: God is a refuge for us. Selah.”  Are you trusting in Him and pouring out your heart to Him?  (V.9) “Surely men of low degree are vanity, and men of high degree are a lie: to be laid in the balance, they are altogether lighter than vanity.”  No matter what, all men are nothing before God.  (V.10-12) “Trust not in oppression, and become not vain in robbery: if riches increase, set not your heart upon them.  God hath spoken once; twice have I heard this; that power belongeth unto God.  Also unto thee, O Lord, belongeth mercy: for thou renderest to every man according to his work.

Jeremiah 17:7-8Blessed is the man that trusteth in the LORD, and whose hope the LORD is.  For he shall be as a tree planted by the waters, and that spreadeth out her roots by the river, and shall not see when heat cometh, but her leaf shall be green; and shall not be careful in the year of drought, neither shall cease from yielding fruit.”  Even if all hell is breaking loose against you, you will not see it.  Your eyes are fixed on Him, and you will just keep on trucking without grumbling or complaining.  You will keep rejoicing in the Lord even when there is drought all around you.  (V.9) “The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked: who can know it?”  Only God can change your heart.  He has to direct your heart towards Him (1Chron.29:18).

Psalms 112:4aUnto the upright there ariseth light in the darkness:”  No matter the darkness around you, if your heart is right before God, the light will come to you.  (V.1b-3, 7-8) “Blessed is the man that feareth the LORD, that delighteth greatly in his commandments.  His seed shall be mighty upon earth: the generation of the upright shall be blessed.  Wealth and riches shall be in his house: and his righteousness endureth for ever.”  “He shall not be afraid of evil tidings: his heart is fixed, trusting in the LORD.  His heart is established, he shall not be afraid, until he see his desire upon his enemies.

Psalms 44:1To the chief Musician for the sons of Korah, Maschil. We have heard with our ears, O God, our fathers have told us, what work thou didst in their days, in the times of old.”  Any person who has heard of God delivering another and will not call out to God for their own deliverance will have no excuse before God.  (V.2) “How thou didst drive out the heathen with thy hand, and plantedst them; how thou didst afflict the people, and cast them out.”  When God drives out the enemy in your land, He plants you in the land.  It means, where the demons were in authority in your life, when you cry out to God; He will put you in authority and the powers of hell will cease to have authority over you.  When you cry out to God and He sets you free, then the enemy can’t touch you. (V.3-8) “For they got not the land in possession by their own sword, neither did their own arm save them: but thy right hand, and thine arm, and the light of thy countenance, because thou hadst a favour unto them.  Thou art my King, O God: command deliverances for Jacob.  Through thee will we push down our enemies: through thy name will we tread them under that rise up against us.  For I will not trust in my bow, neither shall my sword save me.  But thou hast saved us from our enemies, and hast put them to shame that hated us.  In God we boast all the day long, and praise thy name for ever. Selah.
