The demons will tell you that what you see and feel is more real than God’s Word, but they are liars. We are going to be talking about God’s faithfulness. The Father and Son are faithful to each other, and we just get in on it, and get to share in that faithfulness.
Isaiah 9:6a “…And the government shall be upon his shoulder:” speaking of Jesus! That government is the authority and government of our lives, not a physical earthly government. So many times we try to do it in our own strength, but there is nothing we can do without Him. Jesus’ words in John 15:5; say it best, “without me ye can do nothing” are so true.
1Peter 5:7 says: “Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you.” Are you casting your anxieties upon Him. When God called you to Himself, He knew what it would take for you to finish the course He set for your life. You have to know that, and that He is in charge of your life. Many times when you begin to pray and seek the Lord, the powers of hell will show up to divert your attention. They will come with condemnation, guilt, and accusations. They try to get your focus on this world or what you are going through instead of what you are trying to stand and believe God for. But God gives a promise for those who come to Him in faith, and He listens for their hearts cry. Hebrews 11:6a “But without faith it is impossible to please him:” “Faith”: all true faith is tied to the cross. Our hearts are cleansed by faith, it was never intended by God to be a tool for us to try and control and manipulate Him. Faith is a relationship of trust and love because of what God did for us at Calvary. God is not impressed with our works or our personality. God is not impressed with man at all. God is only impressed with His Son Jesus and what He did at Calvary for man. It’s His covenant of faithfulness. Jesus was faithful to come and die for man. Satan tells you that God doesn’t love you, but all you have to do to know better is look at John 3:16. His ultimate love was expressed at Calvary and He went there for you and I. God said don’t be surprised of the fiery trials that come to test your faith.
1Peter 4:12 “Beloved, think it not strange concerning the fiery trial which is to try you, as though some strange thing happened unto you:” Yet when most go thru a little ‘hell on earth’ they grumble and complain against God as the children of Israel in the wilderness. But know that when God called you, He knew what He would have to bring you through. He knew that you would backslide and fail Him, but He called you anyway. It wasn’t because He had or has any faith in you, but because His faith is in Himself and in what His Son did for you.
Hebrews 11:6 “But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.” When we pray, God only hears us because of what Jesus did for us. It was His death that made it possible for the veil in the temple separating man from God’s presence on the mercy seat to be rent, that we could come before God in the most Holy place. How? Through Jesus, our sacrifice and mediator! Mark 15:37-38 “And Jesus cried with a loud voice, and gave up the ghost. And the veil of the temple was rent in twain from the top to the bottom.” Hebrews 10:19-20 “Having therefore, brethren, boldness to enter into the holiest by the blood of Jesus, By a new and living way, which he hath consecrated for us, through the veil, that is to say, his flesh.” The renting of the veil in the temple was symbolic of what Jesus did through His sacrifice on the cross. Now, we don’t need a high priest to go into God’s presence within the veil for us once a year to atone for our sins by the blood of animals, but once for all, Jesus made atonement and thereby removed the sin that separates man from a holy God, that we could go into His very presence. Read all of Hebrews chapters 8 to 10 for greater detail and understanding of this.
2Peter 1:3 “According as his divine power hath given unto us all things that pertain unto life and godliness, through the knowledge of him that hath called us to glory and virtue:” He has made provision for you in every area of you life. He knew all about the sin that would still so easily beset you. He knows of your every temptation. In fact, even there God has shown His faithfulness - 1Corinthians 10:13. “There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it.” The problem is that we prefer to give in to the temptation to sin rather than to take God’s way out because we love to please our flesh more than we love to please Him.
Act 3:17 “And now, brethren, I wot that through ignorance ye did it, as did also your rulers.” Most of the church today is walking in the same kind of ignorance, with no understanding of what the Christian life and walk is all about. They don’t believe that they can walk free from sin. The church is so full of clichés, steps and formulas, but without the spirit and life of God. Psalm 73:21 “Thus my heart was grieved, and I was pricked in my reins.” Why? Because helooked at the wicked and saw them in apparent prosperity. (V.5) “They are not in trouble as other men; neither are they plagued like other men.” David saw that others could sin with seeming impunity and when he turned back and sinned, God chastened Him. That’s God’s way with those who are truly His. Hebrews 12:6-7 “For whom the Lord loveth he chasteneth, and scourgeth every son whom he receiveth. If ye endure chastening, God dealeth with you as with sons; for what son is he whom the father chasteneth not?” How did David come to this place of being grieved because of the prosperity of sinners and his chastisement for sin? Psalm 73:22 “So foolish was I, and ignorant: I was as a beast before thee.” It’s because of ignorance that makes us, before God, no different than an animal, that we can be grieved at the seeming prosperity of sinners, and our own chastisement for sin. In other words, he came to a place where he couldn’t hear God’s voice. He had taken his eyes off the Lord God, and put them on himself and other people and physical circumstances. We have to run this race by keeping our focus upon Jesus. “Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith” Hebrews 12:2. Keeping your eyes on Jesus is the only way to overcome the sin that so easily besets you. Hebrews 12:1 “Let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us.” You can only overcome sin by depending upon the Lord and being strengthened by Him. Psalm 73:23-27 “Nevertheless I am continually with thee: thou hast holden me by my right hand. Thou shalt guide me with thy counsel, and afterward receive me to glory. Whom have I in heaven but thee? And there is none upon earth that I desire beside thee. My flesh and my heart faileth: but God is the strength of my heart, and my portion for ever. For, lo, they that are far from thee shall perish: thou hast destroyed all them that go a whoring from thee.” This is the end of those that are unfaithful to God. (V.28) “But it is good for me to draw near to God: I have put my trust in the Lord GOD, that I may declare all thy works.” He loved God’s presence. So many charismatic people no longer know what it is to feel the presence of God. They only know hyped up and pumped up flesh that they think is God’s Spirit because they have been led to believe it is and they have been led to take emotions for the moving of God’s’ Spirit. Listen brethren, you can watch a totally worldly movie or hear a story that has nothing to do with God or anything about Him and have an emotional reaction and even cry, get angry and experience many different kinds of emotions. We don’t go by feelings, or sight, or anything but faith. The devil can and does play with people’s emotions and uses them to deceive. Yes, you can experience emotional highs in worshipping God and sometimes literally feel His presence, but you must not come to the place of equating any particular feelings or emotions as a proof of the moving of God’s Spirit. The standard is still the Word of God and faith, then the discernment of the Spirit.
1Peter 1:13 “Wherefore gird up the loins of your mind, be sober, and hope to the end for the grace that is to be brought unto you at the revelation of Jesus Christ.” He is talking about the attitude of your mind, your mind set. Your mind is a door of your heart. “Be sober” - how? Colossians 4:2 says through prayer. You must fix your hope upon God’s grace - His kingdom, power, authority and anointing that breaks every yoke. (V.14) “As obedient children, not fashioning yourselves according to the former lusts in your ignorance.” Not disobedient, unbelieving children. They don’t make it. God gives His grace to obedient children, not to those who walk in compromise; and in their flesh. “Fashioning” - to be shaped and molded by pressure. Don’t be conformed to your former lusts. All that’s in this world is of lust (1John 2:15-17). We walked in the lust of our flesh when we walked in ignorance. (V.15) “But as he which hath called you is holy, so be ye holy in all manner of conversation.” God has called us to “holiness without which no man shall see the Lord” (Hebrews 12:14). 1Peter 1:16-17 “Because it is written, Be ye holy; for I am holy. And if ye call on the Father, who without respect of persons judgeth according to every man's work, pass the time of your sojourning here in fear.” “Work” - what kind of work? Works of obedience, because we walk in the fear of God. What is it to fear God? Psalm 119:120 told us. “My flesh trembleth for fear of thee; and I am afraid of thy judgments.” David learned because of God’s chastening. Before that, he too was ignorant of God’s judgment for sin. 1Peter 1:18 “Forasmuch as ye know that ye were not redeemed with corruptible things, as silver and gold, from your vain conversation received by tradition from your fathers.” That’s the carnal sin nature you inherited from Adam. (V.19) “But with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot.” Most think they can give God lip service and keep walking in sin and God will overlook it. But God is looking at our hearts. God puts these people into a deep spiritual sleep and deception. Isaiah 29:10, 13 “For the LORD hath poured out upon you the spirit of deep sleep, and hath closed your eyes: the prophets and your rulers, the seers hath he covered… Wherefore the Lord said, Forasmuch as this people draw near me with their mouth, and with their lips do honour me, but have removed their heart far from me, and their fear toward me is taught by the precept of men.” Following men instead of Jesus will always result in spiritual darkness.
God has made provision for us, for all the sin we committed in ignorance. For so long we neither thought we could walk free from sin, nor that God would judge us if we continued to sin. But now God tells us “Likewise reckon ye also yourselves to be dead indeed unto sin, but alive unto God through Jesus Christ our Lord… For sin shall not have dominion over you: for ye are not under the law, but under grace… But now being made free from sin, and become servants to God, ye have your fruit unto holiness, and the end everlasting life.” Romans 6:11, 14, 22.
Hosea 4:6 “My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge: because thou hast rejected knowledge, I will also reject thee, that thou shalt be no priest to me: seeing thou hast forgotten the law of thy God, I will also forget thy children.” Lack of knowledge is ignorance. Isaiah 5:13. “Therefore my people are gone into captivity, because they have no knowledge: and their honourable men are famished, and their multitude dried up with thirst.” Those who continue to walk in ignorance end up in destruction. But God has made provision for those sins too. But as long as you’re walking in the power of your flesh, the Spirit of God will never allow you to come to the knowledge of the walk of the narrow way nor allow you to come into the most holy place. It’s a hidden way that has to be ministered unto us. The church has had no knowledge of how to walk as an overcomer; how to fulfill God’s call upon our lives.
2Corinthians 2:11 “Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.” But most are ignorant of his devices and so were we. “Ignorant” here means to have no knowledge or understanding of how the powers of hell come against you. It’s to be unaware of, uninformed, without knowledge. In ignorance God’s people walk as if their feelings are truer than the Word of God.
Deuteronomy was a book given to those who entered the Promised Land. It tells how God delivered His people. Deuteronomy 7:22 “And the LORD thy God will put out those nations before thee by little and little: thou mayest not consume them at once, lest the beasts of the field increase upon thee.” This tells us God does it “little by little”, and doesn’t give us an instant total deliverance. We have to press in to receive all that God has promised us. We have to want it and do our part. Salvation isn’t a free ride. There are no welfare Christians who get a free handout from God without any requirements or stipulations.
Deuteronomy 30:1 “And it shall come to pass, when all these things are come upon thee, the blessing and the curse, which I have set before thee, and thou shalt call them to mind among all the nations, whither the LORD thy God hath driven thee.” Today we don’t want to hear about curses, and many churches say that the Old Testament doesn’t even apply to us, but it does. This book was written for us today as well as them. Please notice how they got in the place they were in, how they came to being scattered among the nations that are the enemies of God. It was because He drove them out of the land that He had given them. Why? Because of their sins! (V.2) “And shalt return unto the LORD thy God, and shalt obey his voice according to all that I command thee this day, thou and thy children, with all thine heart, and with all thy soul.” God is restoring those who are coming to Him with all their hearts. Those who are confessing their sin and shame before the Lord and asking for restoration! They come to God as those in Isaiah 4:1. “And in that day seven women shall take hold of one man, saying, We will eat our own bread, and wear our own apparel: only let us be called by thy name, to take away our reproach.” Are you returning to God with this attitude of heart? “Lord, I’m not coming to you for what I can get out of you materially or in this world, but because I want you to cleanse my heart and take away the reproach of my sin.” We need to return to God because we have left Him; as we are told of in Isaiah 53:6; “All we like sheep have gone astray.” We have left the “fountain of living waters” (Jeremaih 2:13). “But we are “returning to the shepherd and Bishop of our souls” (1Peter 2:25). Are you crying out to Him, and confessing, “yes Lord, I’ve left your ways, but now I’m turning back to you with my whole heart, I’m coming back to my first love?” This is God’s condition for repentance and restoration. It’s based on the covenant of the blood of Jesus, but we have to accept what He has provided thru Calvary, and bring our lives to Him and humble ourselves to Him, that He can change us and make us like Himself. He will enable us to stand, He will deliver us, not because we can earn it or deserve it, or are anything in ourselves, but because of God’s faithfulness to His Son, when we come through Him. Deuteronomy 30:2 “And shalt return unto the LORD thy God, and shalt obey his voice according to all that I command thee this day, thou and thy children, with all thine heart, and with all thy soul.” So many today are wearing the gifts of God like a badge upon their chest for all to see. Hey, did you know I’ve got the Holy Ghost and fire and I talk in tongues. And I have the gift of such and such: and yet still practice all kinds of sin. It’s not the gifts that get you to heaven, but your walk with God. Jesus said you will know them by their fruit, but we didn’t know what that meant. They say the fruit is witnessing, or it’s the baptism in the Holy Ghost, or it’s the gifts of the spirit. No. That’s not the fruit. Their fruit that you can know them by is sin. But the fruit of God is Love (Matthew 7:15-23).
1John 3:10 “In this the children of God are manifest, and the children of the devil: whosoever doeth not righteousness is not of God, neither he that loveth not his brother.” 1John 3:7-8 “Little children, let no man deceive you: he that doeth righteousness is righteous, even as he is righteous. He that committeth sin is of the devil; for the devil sinneth from the beginning. For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that he might destroy the works of the devil.” 1John 3:3 “And every man that hath this hope in him purifieth himself, even as he is pure.” You can’t walk around practicing sin and say, “I know I’ll make it somehow, because God understands I can’t help but sin. Or, God don’t see my sin, He just sees the blood.” That’s foolishness.
Deuteronomy 30:3 “That then the LORD thy God will turn thy captivity, and have compassion upon thee, and will return and gather thee from all the nations, whither the LORD thy God hath scattered thee.” When will God deliver you from your captivity? When you turn to Him with all your heart. Most people today don’t believe that God sells His people back to the devil when they continue to walk in sin. Deuteronomy 32:30 “How should one chase a thousand, and two put ten thousand to flight, except their Rock had sold them, and the LORD had shut them up?” Shut them up in their sin. We didn’t know this because we walked in ignorance and we weren’t told this. But it doesn’t change the Word of God, for it is eternal and works whether we know it or believe it or not. Deuteronomy 30:3 “Turn thy captivity” means He will reverse your status as slaves and set you free. God will again buy you back and take you again for Himself. Deuteronomy 30:4 “If any of thine be driven out unto the outmost parts of heaven, from thence will the LORD thy God gather thee, and from thence will he fetch thee.” It may seem you are helplessly lost, but God says it isn’t so. Isaiah 59:1-2 “Behold, the LORD'S hand is not shortened, that it cannot save; neither his ear heavy, that it cannot hear: But your iniquities have separated between you and your God, and your sins have hid his face from you, that he will not hear.” The problem is your sin. God can hear and will save and forgive, but only if you repent and turn from your sin. God will and can forgive any and all sins committed. The only sin He can’t forgive is the sin that is not repented of. Deuteronomy 30:5 “And the LORD thy God will bring thee into the land which thy fathers possessed, and thou shalt possess it; and he will do thee good, and multiply thee above thy fathers.” Though you grope around in darkness because of your sin (Isaiah 59:10, 12), God has given a promise of restoration to those who turn back to Him (V.20) “And the Redeemer shall come to Zion, and unto them that turn from transgression in Jacob, saith the LORD.” God knows where you are. He put you there. (V.5) “The land” - it’s the place God has prepared for His people. He has always had a prepared place for us to come into His presence. (V.6) “And the LORD thy God will circumcise thine heart, and the heart of thy seed, to love the LORD thy God with all thine heart, and with all thy soul, that thou mayest live.” God has to do it, you and I can’t!
Romans 2:28-29 “For he is not a Jew,which is one outwardly; neither is that circumcision, which is outward in the flesh: But he is a Jew, which is one inwardly; and circumcision is that of the heart, in the spirit, and not in the letter; whose praise is not of men, but of God.” It’s all the same, there are no special people today. The only way to be the people of God is to come through the blood of Jesus. It’s those who are redeemed, washed in the blood. Galatians 3:28-29 “There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither bond nor free, there is neither male nor female: for ye are all one in Christ Jesus. And if ye be Christ's, then are ye Abraham's seed, and heirs according to the promise.” The key is to come back to God with all your heart. We can only come to God based upon Calvary, and thru the blood of Jesus, and through Him who is our high priest. Deuteronomy 30:6 “And the LORD thy God will circumcise thine heart, and the heart of thy seed, to love the LORD thy God with all thine heart, and with all thy soul, that thou mayest live.” Forget signs and wonders. Don’t forget Deuteronomy 29:2-4 “And Moses called unto all Israel, and said unto them, Ye have seen all that the LORD did before your eyes in the land of Egypt unto Pharaoh, and unto all his servants, and unto all his land; The great temptations which thine eyes have seen, the signs, and those great miracles: Yet the LORD hath not given you an heart to perceive, and eyes to see, and ears to hear, unto this day.” In spite of all the miracles they witnessed, they missed God. What we need more is a pure heart. Matthew 5:8 “Blessed are the pure in heart: for they shall see God.” That’s a circumcised heart cleansed of all flesh. Only God can cleanse your heart. And look at what it says about your children. If you want the Lord to turn your children to Him, that they will be saved, then you better get right yourself. But yours comes first. First you must return to God will all your heart. Then the promise is given of what God will do.
God has promised to remove our heart of stone and give us a heart of flesh, but they are promises based upon our returning to God with all our hearts. Ezekiel 11:17-21 “Therefore say, Thus saith the Lord GOD; I will even gather you from the people, and assemble you out of the countries where ye have been scattered, and I will give you the land of Israel. And they shall come thither, and they shall take away all the detestable things thereof and all the abominations thereof from thence. And I will give them one heart, and I will put a new spirit within you; and I will take the stony heart out of their flesh, and will give them an heart of flesh: That they may walk in my statutes, and keep mine ordinances, and do them: and they shall be my people, and I will be their God. But as for them whose heart walketh after the heart of their detestable things and their abominations, I will recompense their way upon their own heads, saith the Lord GOD.” Ezekiel 36:17-38 (V.22-27) ”Therefore say unto the house of Israel, Thus saith the Lord GOD; I do not this for your sakes, O house of Israel, but for mine holy name's sake, which ye have profaned among the heathen, whither ye went. And I will sanctify my great name, which was profaned among the heathen, which ye have profaned in the midst of them; and the heathen shall know that I am the LORD, saith the Lord GOD, when I shall be sanctified in you before their eyes. For I will take you from among the heathen, and gather you out of all countries, and will bring you into your own land. Then will I sprinkle clean water upon you, and ye shall be clean: from all your filthiness, and from all your idols, will I cleanse you. A new heart also will I give you, and a new spirit will I put within you: and I will take away the stony heart out of your flesh, and I will give you an heart of flesh. And I will put my spirit within you, and cause you to walk in my statutes, and ye shall keep my judgments, and do them.”
Deuteronomy 30:7-8 “And the LORD thy God will put all these curses upon thine enemies, and on them that hate thee, which persecuted thee. And thou shalt return and obey the voice of the LORD, and do all his commandments which I command thee this day.” This is the mystery of the foolish and wise virgins. The promise is to those who return to obedience. The foolish virgins didn’t. They had been wedded to Him, but they didn’t walk with Him, so they had no anointing oil, no strength from God to stand, and they walked in sin. They will speak to you such things as; “you just don’t know how hard it is. You just don’t know what I’m going thru.” God says not to say the way is too hard. Why is this true? Because God said to cast our cares upon Him because He cares for us, and that He will not allow us to be tempted above that which we are able to bear. Why? Because the government of our lives is upon His shoulders! Deuteronomy 30:8 “All his commandments”, not, take the ones you like; and reject those you don’t. (V.9) “And the LORD thy God will make thee plenteous in every work of thine hand, in the fruit of thy body, and in the fruit of thy cattle, and in the fruit of thy land, for good: for the LORD will again rejoice over thee for good, as he rejoiced over thy fathers.” He once had rejoiced over them, but then stopped, obviously. But every promise of God is held together with an “if”. (V.10-11) “If thou shalt hearken unto the voice of the LORD thy God, to keep his commandments and his statutes which are written in this book of the law, and if thou turn unto the LORD thy God with all thine heart, and with all thy soul. For this commandment which I command thee this day, it is not hidden from thee, neither is it far off.” So how can it be too difficult for you? “Not hidden from thee” means it’s not too hard for you. It’s not out of your reach. (V.12-13) “It is not in heaven, that thou shouldest say, Who shall go up for us to heaven, and bring it unto us, that we may hear it, and do it? Neither is it beyond the sea, that thou shouldest say, Who shall go over the sea for us, and bring it unto us, that we may hear it, and do it?” Then where is it? (V.14) “But the word is very nigh unto thee, in thy mouth, and in thy heart, that thou mayest do it.” How can it be there? Why does He say that? Because it’s what God promised to do after Calvary. That’sHebrews 10:16-17 and Hebrews 8:10-12 “For this is the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel after those days, saith the Lord; I will put my laws into their mind, and write them in their hearts: and I will be to them a God, and they shall be to me a people:... For I will be merciful to their unrighteousness, and their sins and their iniquities will I remember no more.” It’s also the fulfillment of Isaiah 30:21 “And thine ears shall hear a word behind thee, saying, This is the way, walk ye in it, when ye turn to the right hand, and when ye turn to the left.”. How many times have you heard that voice, but ignored it? God only gives His Spirit to those who observe His word. You can’t pick and choose. We must accept the whole loaf. We can’t be like a child only wanting the candy, that which is sweet and ignore the rest. If you just eat candy your teeth will fall out. But that’s why the body of Christ today can’t take the meat of the Word, they don’t have any spiritual teeth. There comes a time when God demands that we grow up into spiritual maturity. Deuteronomy 30:15 “See, I have set before thee this day life and good, and death and evil.” Not just life! (V.16) “In that I command thee this day to love the LORD thy God, to walk in his ways, and to keep his commandments and his statutes and his judgments, that thou mayest live and multiply: and the LORD thy God shall bless thee in the land whither thou goest to possess it.” Jesus said, “If you love me, you will keep my commandments” (Jn.14:15). We don’t keep his commandments to prove we love Him, but because we love Him.
2Corinthians 5:14 “For the love of Christ constraineth us; because we thus judge, that if one died for all, then were all dead.” Galatians 5:22-23 “But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law.” “Temperance” is self-control. Yet so many say, “I just can’t seem to control myself.” They are without self-control. They don’t come to the light because they hate the light (Jn.3:20).
Deuteronomy 30:16 “In that I command thee this day to love the LORD thy God, to walk in his ways, and to keep his commandments and his statutes and his judgments, that thou mayest live and multiply: and the LORD thy God shall bless thee in the land whither thou goest to possess it.” How do you love Him? By keeping His commandments. (V.17-19) “But if thine heart turn away, so that thou wilt not hear, but shalt be drawn away, and worship other gods, and serve them; I denounce unto you this day, that ye shall surely perish, and that ye shall not prolong your days upon the land, whither thou passest over Jordan to go to possess it. I call heaven and earth to record this day against you, that I have set before you life and death, blessing and cursing: therefore choose life, that both thou and thy seed may live.” Today so many are wrapped up in material things and call them the blessings of God. Yet Acts 3:26 tell us His blessing is to turn us from our evil wicked ways. “Choose life” - choose the walk of obedience that you may live. (V.20) “That thou mayest love the LORD thy God, and that thou mayest obey his voice, and that thou mayest cleave unto him: for he is thy life, and the length of thy days: that thou mayest dwell in the land which the LORD sware unto thy fathers, to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob, to give them.” The remnant virgin of Isaiah 4:1 clings to Jesus. They are called the house of Jacob and they seek His face to be changed (Psalm 24:6). They are crying out to be changed that they will love righteousness and hate evil. If your heart still loves evil, God sees and knows it, but it’s your responsibility and mine to take our hearts before Him, and confess our lack according to His Word, and ask Him to do the work in us. Notice “He is thy life.” Jesus is our life. We are made “complete in Him” (Colossians 2:10). “In Him we live, and move, and have our being” (Act 17:28a). Jesus is not only the guarantee of the covenant, but He is the covenant. We approach the Father based upon what Jesus did for us on Calvary. (V.20b) “Dwell in the land” - within the boundaries of the land He has given you. It’s His prepared place for His people. The boundary is that of His presence and anointing. “Abraham, Isaac and Jacob” is reminding us that God is a God of covenant. They walked with God. You become more like the one you walk with. The scripture tells us “Can two walk together, except they be agreed (or in agreement)?” (Amos 3:3). They were married to God, joined to Him, one with Him. 1Corinthians 6:17 says “he that is joined unto the Lord is one spirit” with him. But James 4:4 told us that if we love the world and the things of the world, we are spiritual adulterers and we are being unfaithful to our Lord and Savior, who we are spiritually married to. 2Corinthians 13:5 says “Examine yourselves, whether ye be in the faith; prove your own selves. Know ye not your own selves, how that Jesus Christ is in you, except ye be reprobates?” Are you walking in the faith once delivered to the saints? Are you keeping the commands of God and the testimony of Jesus? Are you truly His, walking in the light of His Word, and being led by the Spirit of God to put to death the deeds of your flesh that you can walk in the newness of life in Christ Jesus? If you need help in your Christian walk, if you need deliverance, discipleship, or help in getting back to the Lord, we want to help you. Jesus died that you can know the reality of salvation and have the fullness of His life.
