It seems there is a carnal nature in mankind that refuses to learn from the past. This is especially true with violent dictators. During the past 100 years, the world has witnessed the rise and fall of several infamous demonic dictators.
After the Russian Revolution in 1917, the names of Marx, Stalin, and Lenin were recognized around the world. Atheistic communism seized Russia and soon spread its iron claws into the eastern half of Europe. Millions were killed in the name of communism, and Christians experienced the worst of the persecution. During the late 1930s and 1940s, Adolph Hitler rose to power in Germany, bringing the birth of the Third Reich and the Nazi Party. His dream was to purge the world of Jews and create an Arian race of perfect humans through the linage of blond haired, blue-eyed Germans. Under his satanic inspired leadership, over six million Jews and an estimated seven million Christians were killed.
After World War II, there were lesser-known men who captured the wealth of their nations for their own personal gain, while their people slaved and suffered at the hands of a corrupt government. Such was the case with the former leader of Romania. For almost 40 years, Nicolae Ceausescu persecuted Christians throughout Romania, arresting them at will and torturing those who refused to follow his ungodly principles.
Then there was Saddam Hussein. In 1979, when Saddam rose to power, he immediately called a public meeting and executed twenty-two potential revivals. From 1980 to 1988, Saddam fought a war with Iran. During this war, the "Butcher of Baghdad" sent one million soldiers to their deaths. From 1981 to 1984, he used chemical weapons against Iranian soldiers. From 1987 to 1988, he used poison gas on 50,000 to 100,000 Kurds in Northern Iraq. In 1990, he invaded Kuwait, his troops raping and stripping the nation of its wealth. Before leaving, his troops set fire to over 500 oil wells in Kuwait.
This is the same man who murdered hundreds of thousands of his own people in Southern Iraq, had scores of torture chambers and rape rooms, and would smile and light a cigar while ordering his own military personnel shot. The soil of Iraq is soaked by the blood of perhaps millions of Iraqi people, who were murdered or slain by Saddam and his sons.
Yet, Saddam never learned from history. He never knew the scripture that says, "Those who live by the sword will die by the sword!" The statues of Marx, Stalin, and Lenin were pulled to the ground and sold as scrap metal when communism collapsed. Hitler shot himself in the head in his bunker and Ceausescu was shot in the head in the streets of Romania. Mussolini, another dictator from Italy, was hung in the street with members of his own family. Every dictator who mistreated people and shed innocent blood met a tragic conclusion.
The same will be true with Osama bin Laden. He has been the mastermind and provided money for the bombing of two U.S. embassies in Africa in 1998. He was responsible for planning the 9/11 attacks on the World Trade Center and the Pentagon. I am certain that bin Laden believes he is secure, traveling around from cave to cave in a region where thousands of tribal people are loyal to him. However, when the time is right, he will also meet his final doom. The evil nature of mankind will never change. Dictators believe they can destroy people and still survive, but they cannot. The future Antichrist will engage in a final attempt to take possession of the nations around the Mediterranean, moving toward Israel and Jerusalem on a final assault against the Hebrew people. He, too, will fail. Only Jesus will prevail in the end!
