Prophecy of the Towers
September 11th, 3BC is believed to be the birth date of Jesus Christ by many researchers. Remember His ministry was approximately 3 ½ years from his 30th birthday. The evidence from the star, the Magi, the death of Herod, and other research points to a probable date of Jesus birth, though that is not the scope of this study.
When we read the Bible, we read the surface and go on. The rabbis believe that it has at least four different levels at which it can be studied. There is the surface text and sometimes it hints at different things and then there are also secret things. Note what God says to the prophet Isaiah. Isaiah 30:8 “Now go, write it before them in a table, and note it in a book, that it may be for the time to come for ever and ever:” The words ‘to come’ are from the Hebrew, 'acharown, akh-ar-one', meaning for the last time, there is nothing after this, it is the final one. Psalm 102:16 “When the LORD shall build up Zion, he shall appear in his glory.” That is for the last time. God is telling the prophet Isaiah to write these things for the generation in the “time to come”, meaning for the last or final generation. This describes a generation of people who have forgotten the Word of the Lord, who have gone back on the Word of God. The people who teach God’s Word have told Him, we don’t want to hear you any more, go stand in the corner. They are worshipping idols and other things and God is saying I will not allow this to stand. I will not allow my people to continue to worship these things and the things you trust in are oppressing you and keeping you in captivity and so God is saying that He will bring down these things that are against them.
Isaiah 30:25 “And there shall be upon every high mountain, and upon every high hill, rivers and streams of waters in the day of the great slaughter, when the towers fall.” Perhaps this is the reason God wanted this generation, the last generation in the last days to understand this. God knew 3000 years ago when He wrote this verse that today it would mean something to us. So we have a hidden meaning in the scripture. These towers we saw crumble on September 11th, we have this hint that God knew about it and wanted us to know something. God wanted this generation to take note of this. What was the problem in Israel that led up to the day of the great slaughter when the towers fell? It was a generation that had gone back on the teaching of the Lord and started to go their own way and worship other things, as material wealth, just like America today and so God told them back in Isaiah’s day, I’m not going to allow these things to stand and He allowed these towers to fall back in Isaiah’s day. I believe it is a hint of what was to happen on Sept.11th here in America. When this happened, many were saying, we will never forget. But it seems that it doesn’t take 12 months for Americans to forget anything and just go back to where they were, doing what they were doing before the tragedy as if nothing happened. It doesn’t seem to matter whether it is a war, an eternal problem or situation, tragedy, or a situation like with President Clinton. Give the people 12 months and they forget it.
To this day the people in this country do not understand the long term impact of the “war on terror” because the towers falling has caused a real shaking to take place. For the most part, America is really hated outside of the country, though never before until our stand against and war against terrorism. Even our old allies of the past, like France whom we fought for in two wars, have turned against us and we are becoming politically isolated and most of the world is against America today because of our support for Israel and our war against terrorism.
We still don’t understand the long-term ramifications of what happened with September 11th, what it started and where it will lead. But we need to understand the long-term ramifications because in Isaiah 30, God is showing us more than just the towers falling, but the ramifications of the towers falling, which is the big picture. When we read in verse 25 about this great slaughter on the day the towers fall is something that happened in Israel, but if we continue to read verses 26-28a the focus and big picture comes into place.
“Moreover the light of the moon shall be as the light of the sun, and the light of the sun shall be sevenfold, as the light of seven days, in the day that the LORD bindeth up the breach of his people, and healeth the stroke of their wound. Behold, the name of the LORD cometh from far, burning with his anger, and the burden thereof is heavy: his lips are full of indignation, and his tongue as a devouring fire: And his breath, as an overflowing stream, shall reach to the midst of the neck, to sift the nations with the sieve of vanity:” Up to verse 25 the emphasis has been upon God’s people, Israel, but after this great day of slaughter when the towers fall, the emphasis is shifted to a global emphasis. He said he would “sift the nations.” We can’t cover all the rabbit trails, but September 11th is the spark that will ignite this sifting of the nations that God speaks of here. This war on terror may not seem like much now, but it will evolve into something much greater. That is why God put these things in scripture and why God told Isaiah in verse 8, “Now go, write it before them in a table, and note it in a book, that it may be for the time to come for ever and ever:” This is so we would sit up and take note of what God is saying.
Traditional classic Christian theology and doctrine has been that the Antichrist that would arise, would control empires of the world for 42 months and be joined by 10 kings. Many said that he was a Jew from the tribe of Dan. Can you imagine that? A Jew then rising up to kill Jews and Christians? Normally, traditionally, Jews protect other Jews. But the rationale and reasoning was that it had to be a Jew for the Jews to receive him as their messiah. Yet in Revelation 7:4 you see the 1444,000 being sealed to protect them from this man called antichrist. Then in Revelation 11:3 we have the appearing of two witnesses, whom many believe to be Elijah and Enoch, the two men who didn’t physically die in the Old Testament. Through all this, up into the 1980’s no one was preaching about how Islam and the Islamic nations fit into the end-time picture. Israel is totally surrounded today by Islamic nations who all hate Israel and want to destroy it.
Then in the 80’s the thing was to take Revelation 13:16-18 about taking the name or number of the name of this beast and it is the number of a man. “And he causeth all, both small and great, rich and poor, free and bond, to receive a mark in their right hand, or in their foreheads: And that no man might buy or sell, save he that had the mark, or the name of the beast, or the number of his name. Here is wisdom. Let him that hath understanding count the number of the beast: for it is the number of a man; and his number is Six hundred threescore and six.” It’s not a weird thing, but according to one of the Rabbinical laws of interpreting scripture though some would call it occultic numerology or kabala, a form of Jewish mysticism. But it is used in the Bible. To take a name and give it a numerical value according to the Hebrew alphabet is something that was done back in the time of Christ and back to the Babylonian captivity and it was common to them. Anyway, back in the 80’s men in America started taking the names of men and from the English alphabet assigning a numerical value from 1 to 26 representing the English alphabet. This is not the way number values are given to the Hebrew Alphabet nor can you directly translate letter to letter between Hebrew and English. The Hebrew numbering is 1-9, 10-90, and 100-400, or values ranging from 1 for the letter Aleph, the first letter to 400 for Tav, the last letter of the Hebrew Alphabet. Anyway, they took names like Henry Kissinger and Adolph Hitler and even Bill Clinton and tried to say they might be the antichrist because their full names added up to 666 using the English alphabet and number values of 1 through 26 for each letter. That will never help determine the identity of the antichrist, especially not using the English alphabet and numbering system. The calculation of the name is but a clue to give us a clue, but you can’t use this to determine who it will be.
Anyway, some said the antichrist would come out of the UN, others that he would come out of NY, or be a Pope and many other things, all without a real Bible basis, but just reading into a scripture what they wanted.
In scripture we see that there were various empires, one being that of Alexander the Great, the Grecian empire. In Daniel 8:5-8, Daniel saw a vision of a he-goat moving swiftly that had a notable horn. Then he saw that horn divide into four parts. Daniel 8:21 “And the rough goat is the king of Grecia: and the great horn that is between his eyes is the first king.” Then Daniel was told this kingdom would be divided into four parts and Alexander’s kingdom was divided into four parts this way: One general, Polemic, took Egypt, Libya, Palestine and the southern part, another, Cassandra took Greece, Macedonia and the Western part, another Selucus took Babylon, Iran, Iraq, Syria and the Eastern part of Asia Minor and the last general, Lysimachus took Turkey, (Trace, Bithynia, Purgamum) and the northern part.
Daniel 8:9 “And out of one of them came forth a little horn, which waxed exceeding great, toward the south, and toward the east, and toward the pleasant land.” This little horn is identified in scripture and by the early church fathers as the antichrist. The south is toward the Negev desert and Egypt, the East is from Israel is Jordan, Iran, Iraq, Afghanistan and Pakistan. The countries where the fanatical Muslims are. The pleasant land is an idiom for Israel. The four choices for the antichrist to come from are Egypt and the northern part of Africa, from the area of Greece and Macedonia, Bulgaria and that area. Or he has to come from Turkey or from Babylon, which is Iraq, Syria and Lebanon. When you do a study of prophecy, the best identify of where he will come from is the area of Iraq, Lebanon and Syria which is the old area of Babylon and the only Empire of Bible Prophecy that had a wound, that has died and has to come back to live again. That is the connection and that is why going to war with Iraq has got to happen. Something has to happen to shake up that part of the world to prepare the world for the fulfillment of scripture and prophecy. What we are seeing is the beginning of the sifting of the nations. The sifting of the nations is beginning and it is going to evolve around Israel and Islam, the nations that are Islamic. Scripture goes on to speak about this little horn that boasts of great things and speaks against the Most High God. A lot of people have interpreted this portion of scripture as having been already fulfilled in Antioch Epiphanies. And although that may be so in one sense, many times the Bible has to be seen on different levels because many scriptures have at least dual applications.
Hosea 11:1 “When Israel was a child, then I loved him, and called my son out of Egypt.” Matthew 2:15 “And was there (speaking of Jesus) until the death of Herod: that it might be fulfilled which was spoken of the Lord by the prophet, saying, Out of Egypt have I called my son.” Here the gospel writer says this verse in Hosea was referring to Jesus going down into Egypt to escape death from Herod. Scripture is not a single dimensional book. And although Antioch Epiphanies did fulfill this scripture in Daniel, it doesn’t mean another one wouldn’t also. Another interesting thing is that he came from this same area of the world, that is Syria, Babylon and Iraq today. He came to Jerusalem and forbid the Jews to keep the Sabbath and keep the Torah under the threat of death. He raised up an image to Zeus in the temple and sacrificed a pig upon the altar and went into the temple and defiled it. Epiphanies means the risen god. He considered himself to be god. He is a prototype of the antichrist. To show that these scriptures can refer to two different time periods, Jesus talked about the abomination that makes Jerusalem desolate as written by Daniel the prophet and this was written many years after Antioch Epiphanies had died.
Matthew 24:15 “When ye therefore shall see the abomination of desolation, spoken of by Daniel the prophet, stand in the holy place, (whoso readeth, let him understand:)” Revelation 13:14-15 talks about the image of the beast that men worship. “And deceiveth them that dwell on the earth by the means of those miracles which he had power to do in the sight of the beast; saying to them that dwell on the earth, that they should make an image to the beast, which had the wound by a sword, and did live. And he had power to give life unto the image of the beast, that the image of the beast should both speak, and cause that as many as would not worship the image of the beast should be killed.” Antioch Epiphanies set up an image of a pig in the holy place, but John wrote his revelation in 95 AD, over 200 years after Antioch Epiphanies invaded Jerusalem.
In like manner, many scriptures revealed something that has already happened in the past that is a picture of what is to come and to happen in the future. Everything that happened in the Old Testament was a shadow of things to come in the New Testament period. Anyone who knows the Hebraic perspective of scripture knows that God dwells in 7 dimensions and not three. When you understand that, then you understand how God can write a verse with both a primary and a secondary application. Again, one example was Hosea 11:1, 12:13 then Matthew 2:15 telling us that it was fulfilled in Christ being taken down to Egypt. On the surface, it was fulfilled when Moses and Israel came out of Egypt, then it was again fulfilled with Christ as Matthew told us that the prophecy referred also to Jesus. This is also true on many things that David wrote in the Psalms about himself or things he was going through that were prophetic of Christ and what He would suffer. Also many things in scripture have a natural and then a spiritual application, just as the restoration of Zion in the last days is two fold, both a natural and a spiritual restoration are foretold which is the last day move of God. So we are seeing the beginning of the sifting of the nations of the last days and with the coming darkness and evil there will also come a great light of the gospel. There are many times 2 concurrent moves of God, one of judgment and one of revelation and deliverance at the same time. A great light will shine in the midst of great darkness.
